Lost the locking wheel nut on my x type

Hi James, I'm guessing that you mean you've lost the key for the locking nuts? Time, bruised knuckles and a good pair of water pump pliers will loosen them eventually if they are not too deep inside the rims. If they are deep, I suggest a visit to a panel shop where someone inventive will take a solid bronze or copper pipe (of the correct diameter) and hammer it to take the shape of the nut. Once that is done apply a pipe wrench and loosen. After that James I advised you to buy replacements and keep the new key in a safe place inside the vehicle. regards John

I have 2004 x-type jag and need to know what the key looks like to take the tire off

I assume you wish to remove the wheel, not the tyre.
Look at the wheel and you will see an odd looking wheel nut, imagine the shape that is requred to go over this, and this is the inside of what looks like a socket with a hex head sticking from it.
It's about 1.8" high. normally located in the boot (trunk) under the carpet on the RHS nearest you.
you can find a picture here:-

My locking wheel nut tool appears worn inside and just slips around the locking wheel nut. How can I get a replacement?

If the tool is slipping that means both wheel nut and tool are worn. The best thing you can do is buy or borrow a "gator grip" socket to remove the old locking wheel nuts and replace them with a new set and tool.

You can buy the gator grip socket in the UK these days, my son has just bought one for the same reason.

How do you remove the nut on the wheel that is some sort of security lock

If you have wheel locks, you will need the wheel lock key that came with it. It looks like a round thing that goes on the end of the lug nut wrench. If you lost the key, you can try and get another one that matches from the manufacturer, but if you can't you will have to have it professionally removed.
