MAP sensor. Need to know what color wire is the wire that controls the ecu.

The center wire is the signal wire for the computer feedback circuit.

Why is the engine running erratically?


the map sensor fail means (DTC code not stated sadly)
mean the voltage is stuck at 5v or 0v.
near
the ECU never lies about this, ever.
the ECU enters FAILSAFE mode , in this case. (limphome)
and runs rich has heck , horrid rich, misfires.
RPM limited
idle controls disabled.
and retarded spark timing.

pretty much worst of the worst for EFI ops.
all you need to do is post the DTC error. and all that is what matters.
new MAP time, or fix the vacuum hose. its clogged? cracked.
make sure the vacuum leaves the intake manifold (sucks) and
makes it all the way to the MAP on the fire wall and that the
tiny filter(check valve?) inline is clogged, (blown through it)

This is a G16A ENGINE, With an ECU that does not create or control spark, (old style distributor with mech, and vac, advance)

if vacuum line is breached to map , the vacuum is not 0" HG
the MAP outputs 3.9V

the ECU trip points i do not know. but
above 3.9 or below .5v it will trip... somewhere,

I need to know the drive cycle for my 2001 elantra .I had code PO105 that is fixed but it wont reset


P0105 = Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction
I assume the code will not clear when you try to erase it? Either the circuit (wiring) is damaged, or the ECU memory won't reset/erase the code. If you know the wiring & MAP sensor are ok, try zero-ing the electrical system (disconnect the negative battery cable and connect a wire to the negative battery cable & connect the other end of the wire to the positive battery cable for 30 seconds. Remove the wire & reconnect the negative battery cable to the negative battery post. Now, this shoud have erased the memory in the ECU and there should be no code(s) present. If the code is still there, (and there's nothing wrong with the wiring between the MAP sensor & the ECU), the ECU is faulty.

Problems with my 94 k1500 / changed idle control valv / map sensor / throttle control sensor /plugs,wires,cap,rotor ,and fuel filter / these are all the things i have bought but nothing i have done will...


it might be the ECU, when cold the computer raises the iddle to warm it up, when reaches temp., it dropes it down to normal iddle, but it might not know where the correct iddle is, it might be another sensor like a cam, map, throttle position senssor.

When I crank the vehicle I have to keep the throttle open I checked the ECU for trouble codes it showed a problem with the MAP sensor voltage too high I replaced the the MAP sensor then trouble code showed...


Need to check the wiring from map sensor to control module and make sure you got correct map sensor also if o2 sensors are giving incorrect reading can affect this

Brown is E (Ground)

Yellow is VC to VCC (sensor to ECM)

Map Sensor Wires Question


Answer:

On a 3-wire MAP sensor connector when looking at the vehicle "wiring harness mating side of the connector" (and not the sensor connector) - with the snap detent pointing UP and looking LEFT to RIGHT the signals will read >

GROUND > MAP SIGNAL > POWER


Hopefully we are talking about a MAP sensor, and NOT a MAF sensor as the 2 are different as to the wiring signals.

Color of the wires doesn't matter, as you are just looking for backprobed voltage SIGNALS only using an adapter if you are doing in-circuit signal testing.

POWER I believe should be in the 5-volt range unless Jeep is using 3.3-volt.

Usually the MAP SIGNAL voltage range is quite a bit lower on the sense line, but with Jeep you never know? If using a good DVM measuring the MAP SIGNAL voltage you should see a smooth decrease in voltage as the vacuum is increased. If there is no voltage change or negative swing then the sensor may either be bad or else you have an OPEN or SHORTED wire between one of the 3 connector leads and the PCM computer, which would be rare.

I take you are troubleshooting a specific CHECK ENGINE CODE hopefully, as if not I would have the PCM read properly with a good CAN OBD II code reader to pinpoint the troublesome sensor.

I've always used an ACTRON CP9087 Sensor Tester, and a CEN-TECH 94169 CAN OBD II code reader which works great for me.

Make sure your MAP vacuum line is good and hooked up right as well.

Map sensor wiring for Chevy s-10


Well after looking it up it's the the map input wire is light green on both 4 and 6 cylinder models.

On a 4cyl the map has black gray and light green, the black is ground, the gray is a 5 volt refrence from the pcm(power control module), and the light green goes to to ECU for MAP input.

On a 6cyl the map has black gray and light green, the black is goes to the automatic transmission, gray is a 5 volt refrence from the pcm(power control module), and the light green goes to to ECU for MAP input.
