Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix
To replace a bulb or to replace the entire unit, is basically the same process. In the trunk, you have to unscrew the "butterfly" nuts that hold the light in place (they are black and have wings). The studs come trough the holes in the carpeting (in mine 3 do, one is hidden, if it's the same on yours, just fold back that preformed carpeting and it should reveal the 4th). Once that is done, the tail light should come right out.
Unplug the connector/s for the burned out lamp/s and change the bulbs.
unplug the connectors to replace the unit.
and then reinstall the unit, and hand tighten the nuts.
