Never pull with overdrive on. and consider upgrading the transmission cooler if it is overheating.

it sounds like your clutch is starting to go out, or the clutch slave cylinder is going bad, you will have to have a auto shop check it out

1999 dodge turbo diesel m/t i noticed the turbo started spooling up quick when i was pulling my 24ft enclosed now it want spool up or i dont feel it at the top of the pedal like before mileage has fallen...


You could have a blocked catalytic converter. When engine is at operating temp, if the pipes glow red in the vicinity of the converter (enough to get the floor hot), it's critical to replace the catalytic converter to restore power and prevent engine damage.

1999 dodge 1500 5.2 will not shift to second once the engine reaches normal temperture or I shift from drive to nutural and back to drive then it will work fine untill the next time I stop. filter, fluid, shift slenoid,governor sensor have been replaced.

Might have a bent shifting fork. That is what I had on my 99 dodge.

Trouble code P1740 on 1999 Dodge Ram 2500


I had the same code on my 2001 dodge 2500. The truck wouldn't shift from 3-4. I pulled the trans pan off and replaced a broken spring ($2.00). It is behind a thin plate with 3-4 small torq screws. You don't have to remove the valvebody. Only took me 45 minutes to fix.

the humming noise is the front drive shaft u joints as far as the shifting ??????? check the fluid level in the tranny........ fully warm and in neutral..... set the park brake..... it should be in the "hot" area or just under
