Welcome to Fixya

If the car is turning over and not firing. Check each plug wires are ok. Replace them ASAP if you found cuts are the like. If wires are good then check the spark plugs one at a time. Check gaps, age is important if they are old, replace them with new spark plugs. Check the distributor cap, the points in poor condition, cracked distributor cap or rotor arm, poor connections to the ignition coil / circuit & earthing, the coil itself shorting out.

Thank you for using Fixya!

I have 2001 sonata that I was driving perty hard and red lined it then it just died and now I'm not getting no spark why

Do you have power at the coil? The crank sensor fires the plugs so it may have failed. Check to see if you set any codes.

What could cause a1991 suzuki samurai to have no fire from a new coil?

no spark from coil directly?
is the cam turning, is the dizzy rotor spinning. ????

check all fuses first. Ig-coil, FI and dome.
then using diagnostic jumper wire or fuse, (as approp)
crank engine look for code 41 o 42.!!!

USA cars , answers only
our cars are all EFI that year.
no engine swaps to Suzuki G16A/B sidekick or tracker engines.!
1: engine cranks
2: no spark
3: The ECu makes spark
the CMP sensor in the DIzzy , (never fails if rotor turns, does rotor turn, if not cam belt igored and now snapped.)
the cam turns. the CMP fires. the ECU takes this CMP signal
and fires the ignitor next to coil and the coil charges, and release and BAM spark.

that is it.
the ECU will tell you when the CMP dies or the Ignitor fails
why not ask it.
1: key on
2: diagnostic jumper in place (flashes 12s for ok)
3: crank engine,for 5sec, not 1 ,not 2.
3: release key not off.
4: see code 41, or 42, BINGO !@!!!!

My 2001 saturn s series car died on me a couple months ago, i thought it had simply ran out of gas, so i put more gas in it to try to restart it, i found that it will fire, but not start, i could not hear...

Hi :) That starting system has a coil pack and if one side stops working the engine only fire on 1-3 or 2-4 which make the engine shake and not start. There should be a crank senor that could be on its way out. and check the relays in the black box buy the battery there is one for the fuel pump and pre start pump.

2001 sonata, engine died when turning corner and now has no fire from coils. Replaced coils, crank sensor and cam sensor. What else could it be? Thanx in advance.

If you have a faulty O2 sensor the PCM will not send the command to the coil(s) to fire, and if the PCM is faulty, then you will get the same issue. I would recommend that you start with the simplest thigs first and check the fuse panel in the car, and under the hood, then check the relays, and then the O2 sensor, and the PCM.

Got a 2001 Chevy blazer 4.3L cranks but does not start. got 62 psi at the fuel rail, replaced plugs and wires, got good spark at coil, replacing car and rotor! if the cam sensor or crank senor are bad...

Crank sensor is primarily for the spark and the cam sensor is for fuel management, crank/cam correlation for misfire purposes I would also change the wires.
