Question about Buick Regal

1 Answer

I have a 2001 Buick regal that I suspect has a bad flasher relay. I know it is under the dash supposedly connected to the steering column brace--but for the life of me I can not find it. I can find the BCM--by remving the carpet covering. Do I need to look somewhere elase? I am told it is a square box...like a relay--but see nothing that even closely resembles this. Please help...this iis my 17 yo son's car and he just got his license. I have checked all fuses and replaces all bulbs...the blinkers int he back flash fast; the front ones stay on when the turn switch is activated

Hello Mark.

The flasher unit is under the dash, to the left of the steering column.
You will need to remove the lower insulator panel and the cover under the steering column.
Here is a diagram to help you find it. The flasher is marked #2.
The two studs showing in the diagram in the center and on the lower right are the ones that hold up the steering column.

I have a 2001 Buick - kiltylake_244.gif

Hope this helps you locate it.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Replacing turn signal switch 2002 regal

GM multi-function switches (the switch on the steering column) are VERY involved to replace (unlike Dodge and Ford)! in most cases, you have to tear half the steering column apart to gain access to its mounts. You are better off taking the car to a mechanic if that is the case.

Where is the flasher fuse located at

On 1992 Buick Regal 3.1L MFI OHV 6cyl. the Flasher is located:
- Hazard flasher: front seating area, passenger side, under dash, above kick panel, mounted in relay block
- Turn signal: front seating area, driver side, under dash, passenger side of steering column, mounted behind instrument panel

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using Fixya, and have a nice day.

Turn signals dont work on 1993 skylark. all bulbs are good. hazard lights blink fine. turnsignal dash light stays green and doesnt blink

There are 2 separate flasher relays. 1 for the turn signals and one for the hazards. I believe you have a bad flasher relay for the turn signals. The location of that is in the front seating area on the drivers side, under the dash on the drivers side of the steering column, mounted on support bracket. I provided a picture of what it should kind of look like although the picture I gave you is an aftermarket one so the color and such may be a little different but will look the same. Don't get it mixed up with the hazard relay which is located in the front seating area on the drivers side under the dash above the kick pane lmounted on top of the convenience. I am almost 100 percent sure the flasher and hazard relay are the same so if you want to just swap them out in order to have turn signals that should work. You won't have hazards however. I hope this helps you and good luck.

Blinker do not work it lights up but do not blink

The Flasher Relay is defective. Replace it. Know that your car has 2 Relays. One for the Turn Signals and one for the Hazard Lights. The Turn Signal flasher relay is located on the driver's side, under dash, behind instrument panel, mounted on passenger side of steering column. The Hazard Relay is located on the driver's side, under dash, driver's side of steering column, mounted in lower corner of fuse block. Make sure you replace the correct relay.

92 buick park avenue turn signals wil not flash

Oh you'll love this I just fixed that problem. Yes there is a flasher fuse there are actually three. One in the fuse box and two under the dash panel. Drop your plastic panel at the bottom and look for two half a dollar sized round fuses those are your flasher fuses. They run around two bucks at your nearest auto part I would replace both so you want have that problem again but yes there is a flasher fuse for it. Good luck

My turn signals will not blink

Look under the dash, in the fuse box. There is a round silver colored relay, it looks like a plug. Pull it out and take it to your parts store. Ask them for a flasher relay. Part number should be 552 or 550. It should be a two prong or 3 prong flasher.
