Question about 1970 Oldsmobile 442
Most likely there's a problem with the connection to the fuel tank sending unit, the device that measures the amount of fuel in the tank. I have no idea if you can inspect the sending unit without dropping the fuel tank. If there is a way to inspect it, there would be an access panel in the trunk, most likely, since the gas tank is, I think, under the trunk. If not you'll have to drop the tank and check the wiring to see if the sending unit is installed and the wiring is sound. You'll need to verify that the sending unit is working by measuring ohms across it.
