Question about 2011 Buick Enclave

2 Answers

My 2010 buick enclave rear brakes squeal a LOT when applied. I brought car to dealership and they said according to a GM TSB that it is "normal" for them to squeal because of the very hard brake pads that are used by GM. Can this be true?? Must I live with the squealing? What about spraying the rear brakes with some "anti-squeal" aerosol?

I find it hard to believe that a brake squeal is normal. Here is what I would recommend doing and there may be some reluctance from the dealership to perform this operation while under warranty. As a mechanic when I am being told that the brakes squeal I typically procede by removing the brake pads and scuffing the surface of the pads as well as the rotors. This typically removes the squeal noise. They do make coatings that can help reduce brake squeal but typically whenever the coating is removed the squeal reurns. I would ask the dealership for a copy of this TSB that they are talking about and review it yourself to make sure that is exactly what is happening. If you are not happy with the brakes or the dealers response then I would advise you to get the customer service toll free number from your owners manual and tell them how un happy you are with this descision and I am willing to bet you will get different results. I would suggest that you get some ceramic pads installed to eliminate the noise and if you are demanding enough they would probably be willing to pick up the check but remember you are going to have to be very demanding.

I just bought a 2010 buick enclave cxl and on slight incline in drive will roll back. ? Its like the rpms arent where they should be. I don't think the weight should pull it back so much. Thanks

The parking brake is the way to stop it rolling back. Idle RPM are set and have no bearing on how the car rolls back. apart from if you increase the revs, the car will move. The proper procedure on an incline is to apply the parking brake, put the vehicle into drive, increase the revs and take off the parking brake. Just like we did in the old days when we had manual gearboxes :>)

How do i change the rear turn signal bulb on a 2009 buick enclave?

Read the owner manual. Note that 2008 & 2009 manuals have incorrect information. Locate 2010 Enclave on internet. It has correct description and bulb number. Bulb is a 7443, NOT a 3157.

Just bught a 2008 lincoln MKX (huge mistake). The rear of the vehicle squeals while in motion. Quits when the brakes ar applied. HELP!! Three dealerships, no solution because it never squeals while I'm at...

Sounds a little like there are shims missing, some aftermarket shoes do not come with the shims that keep the shoes from vibrating. So they're noisy until brakes are applied and the vibration is dampened. I would assume dealer techs would notice something that simple but you never know.

2002 buick rendezvous groans when turning

The fluid in the versa trak AWD in the rear is old and needs to be drained and refilled. After you drain and refill it, make a bunch of sharp left and right hand turns, then drive it for 10 minutes. Drain and refill it for the second time and problem solved. Use only versa trak fluid available at any GM dealership. There is TSB on this now at the Buick dealership.

When backing up and sometimes turning right my brakes(?) make a squealing sound. Almost as though a pebble is caught and grinding on something. Honda 2004 accord-50.000miles. I was told I needed new brakes...

Your rear brake pads are most likely worn to the wear indicator which can make a high pitch squealing noise. It is very common that it will squeal when backing up, but not when applying the brakes. 50,000 miles is about the average life for rear brake pads on your car.
