Question about Ford F-250

1 Answer

1993 Ford F-250 4X4 Brake pedal does not return after being pressed, brakes work fine, but pedal does not come back. Replaced booster, master cyl, bled all lines. Could this be a vacuum problem? Booster seems to be getting plenty of vacuum. Thanks

WHY FRONT BRAKES LOCK UP AFTER CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN / WILL RELEASE AFTER CAR COOLS DOWN

Sounds like you might be having a problem with your ABS pump itself.

Abs brake system

Best case scenario bad vacuum pressure to the brake booster. Worst case bad abs control module or valve body/motor the abs system works by add and removing hydraulic pressure through valves and electric motor. Try using block off plugs at the master cylinder( remove lines plug outlets at master cylinder) check if brake pedal position and pressure is good(if there is no change problem is master cylinder or brake booster/ vacuum) if plugging at master cylinder solved issue repeat procedure at abs valve body after reinstalling lines from master cylinder if your problem returns your issue is in the abs valve body if plugging at the abs solves problem reconnect at the valve body bleed each line one by one testing between each line until you find the problem

Ford ranger pedals went to floor booster was leaking changed booster and now when I tried 2 prime no fluid to back wheels and pedal sticks half way on way back up? Is my master cyl bad??

If the brake pedal sticks on the way up then i would have to say there is a problem in the master cylinder, even with other brake problems the pedal should always return,
also when installing the booster make the linkage to brake pedal and brake switch is installed correctly.

1992 F250 460 cid automatic 2w drive 85000 mi. Just replaced my master cylinder, all 4 brakes, and both front rotors. Afterward I blead the brakes and got bubbles out of fluid. Problem is : when not...

There is never a test or reason to pump your brakes

Accomplishes absolutely nothing.

There is no pressure in a braking system at all,
until you SLOWLY apply the brake pedal.

Then less than 1" off movement in the master cyl,
will develop 600 to 1800 lbs at the wheels

Release the brake pedal, the system goes to zero,
IT DOES NOT HOLD ANY PRESSURE

To answer your question

You not suppost to press the pedal hard
The saying goes--you apply the brakes,
not force the pedal arm and pin into the
vacuum booster, as though you want to damage it

When your driving what happens ?
You have higher manifold vacuum and
thus your pedal is normal, why the VACUUM
brake booster

No Brakes, changed Booster, thought it was air in the lines. When bleeding no fluid coming out of front right and back brake bleeder valves. Checked rubber line, is ok. Clogged somewhere in the line. Have...

Is the master cylinder good? a bad master can cause this also did you bleed the master first before bleeding at the wheel and also make sure the bleeder screw is clean, if the hose is good then theres only a few things, a bad master or a master that wasnt bleed, try bleeding the master first then try rebleeding the brakes.

1993 ford mustang brake pedal goes down on its own and brakes

Check the vacuum brake booster and check valve maybe there is a problem there that is amplifying the vacuum inside the booster and applying the brakes. I hope this helps, let me know.

Just replaced master cylinder on 1990 aerostar and bled the brakes, still the pedal goes to floor and i have no brakes

Did you bench bleed the master cyl. before installing it? then when you installed the new master, did you bleed all 4 points? If yes, then check all for points for leaking caliper/s and leaking wheel cylinder/s. If the van has ABS, check the valve body for a bleeder screw and see if air bleeds out of it. If you've checked everything twice and did everything right then your new master cyl. may be defective.
