Question about 1993 Honda Accord

1 Answer

About six weeks ago my 93 Accord engine heat gauge went to the top. I took it to a shop and they replaced the thermostat and radiator. It ran for a while and today the engine heat gauge again went to the top. I brought it to the same shop. What do you think is the matter? A few days ago someone at an auto parts store poured in too much power steering fluid and some of it leaked over wires and things under the hood. Do you think this may have caused something to make the engine overheat or maybe it was just the gauge that is off? I am kind of desperate to get an unbiased opinion since the shop may have some new expensive solution which may not work either. Thank you for any input.

Did you over heat the second time? or did the gauge go up with no over heat? alot of time in my expeirence severe over heat can destroy the temprature sending unit, causing false readings on your dashboard. The sending unit is housed on your thermostat housing and is simple to install and affordable. if it did over heat take it to another shop fpr second opinon (Estimates are usually free) cuase I could be typing awhile trying to explain, lol

My car is a 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier! I have fluid in my radiator tank but its not getting to the radiator causing my car to overheat! Is it the thermostat going bad or already went bad????

HI run engine until heat gauge reaches half or 90degrees .then feel top and bottom radiator hose for equal temperature ,IF not thermostat faulty. once you have replaced thermostat and coolant with required water dilution run engine by 90/100degrees engine cooling fan should switch on/off automatically .IF this happens system is fine.

I drive a 2006 dts which i've had for 1 year. A week after I had the car the temperature gauge went to red when I was in traffic. I took it to cadillac, they replaced the engine, radiator and hoses

Temp is going up, well that doesn't mean anything unless it actually overheats, in traffic it can reach 240 F and present no danger of engine damage. If this is not the case DO NOT DRIVE THIS UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FOUND AND REPAIRED UNLESS YOU WANT TO BUY ANOTHER ENGINE JOB.

Drained radiator added prestone Radiator flush refilled and started overheating, drained radiator replaced thermostat and now I get no heat from heater,Radiator water is hot

disconnect the heat hoses going into fire wall , put hose into one with pressure and flush as it sounds like it could be bloked in the heater core, the other thing that could be the problem be the hot ,cold switch as it restricts the flow to makes the heater hoter or colder , it might need tlc or replacing as it is manaul not elec

No heat and engine temp gauge is too high

no heat engine running hot sound like faulty thermostat which is sticking closed.if thermostat stuck closed no coolant can circulate through the engine block and radiator causing no heat condition and engine overheating.replace thermostat and radiator pressure or surge tank over jug cap see what happens.

Most overheating problems are caused by a stuck closed thermostat, if it has already been replaced the next common cause is a clogged radiator, have it checked at a REAPIR SHOP OR RADIATOR SHOP IF YOU REMOVE IT YOURSELF

I have a 98 Mitsubishi Diamante that I just got out of the shop. I had the starter, alternator and 2 belts replaced. Less than a week later, I'm having more problems. When it was in the shop, they...

Was the cap on correctly when you opened up to refill it? To verify a leak clean up any residue that is on the engine etc and let it sit...then check for anything on the ground, chassis and at any hose connections. Check for leaks cold and hot. When hot there is pressure in the system and may reveal leak, however, many water pumps leak better cold with the cap removed (pressure actually will push the seal against the shaft and stop it from leaking) " It's leaking and I don't know where" isn't a statement I'd ever permit to pass me by...My next question would be, show me where. That does nothing to instill confidence in that shop.
One note: if it does turn out to be a pinhole in the radiator, believe it or not, a tablespoon of black pepper actually works. Just don't use more than two.
