Blower motor intermittent failure


Change your blower motor resistor, common problem, where certain speeds will work intermittently and eventually complete failure. Located under the dash behind the glovebox. My #5 just quit working, I will be doing this tomorrow. My last TB, same thing happened. My neighbors TB same problem, only her female connector was melted that plugs into the resistor. My current TB is melted too, so I need to replace the connector and the resistor. This problem is so common in TB's and Envoys, it should be a recall.

I have a 2006 trail blazer i have already determined there is a power draw but can't find the location of resistor pack. i thought it was mounted on fire wall in engine compartment. aldo once i lo


I assume you are talking about the resistor pack for the blower motor. It is mounted near the blower motor behind the glovebox.
Why are you suspecting the resistor pack is the cause of the battery drain? There are other things that can cause parasitic drain, such as vanity mirror light, glovebox light, underhood light, Onstar module. An Ammeter needs to be hooked up to the battery to monitor the current drain and then fuses need to be pulled until the excessive current is located.

2001 nissan maxima se--trouble shooting for blower motor resistor


if your blower motro only works on the #4 setting you need a resistor.cheap and easy to change.located next to blower motor under pass. side of dash.two phillips screws secure it.if it fails again replace blower motor as it is drawing too much current and overheating resistors.let me know how it turns out.

Vetilation doesn't work in positions 1,2,3, works only in position 4.. help please!


You have got a defective blower motor resistor. Your blower resistor is located just to the left of your blower motor (which is located under the passenger side of your dash. You may find you have a carpeted covered piece of cardboard that is located on the underside of the dash (below the glove box ) if so you'll have to to remove it by removing the retaining clips, Now look up behind the glove box and you"ll see the blower motor and just to the left of it there is rectangular unit with a connector with six wires within the connector , the colors of the wires will be as follows (black and orange)(black and yellow)(two wire's that are black and white)(black and blue)and (black). the blower motor resistor is totally bypassed when you turn your fan speed to high ! The blower speed is controlled by the ground side of the blower. When you request any of the other three speeds the ground circuit is routed through the blower resistor which is made up of three resistors.( resistors reduce the current flow) and each resistor reduces a predetermined about of current.So when you request medium high blower speed the ground circuit runs through one resistor, if you request medium low the ground circuit runs through two resistors , and through three resistors to obtain low blower speed, Normally what happens is the blower resistor blows out the circuit between the fan switch and the blower motor resistor which results in the lost of all lower speeds,no different then the wire to the blower motor just being disconnected.Replace the blower motor resistor and you will in great shape .Thanks for using fixya

Where is blower fan resister located ?


The resistor should be located on the passenger-side of the vehicle, accessible under the dash by removing the "soft" covering. Make sure you get the correct part to fit or you may have to modify the opening where the resistor fits for size (newer resistors are designed a little larger, requiring you to expand the opening (all plastic, so not too difficult, but it is a hard to reach area so working in the space is difficult)

Ok i know this might be a little difficult to understand. BUt If you click on the link above. Find Diagram (a), That picture represents your switch, not complete but in theory. each Resistor means a Different speed. As you turn the Dial it applys current to all the resistor depending on which one it points to. As you can see the (i) represents current and lets say R3 represents "speed 5" Well in theory the less resistors the fast the speed. So the at low speed the dial will be pointing to R1 at medium fan speed the dial will point at R2 and at high Speed "speed 5" the Dial points to R3. Less Resistance More Current More Current more Speed. Now You have No R3...
This basiclly means that the who switch wihich includes Warm and cold and 1,2,3,4,5 and Defrost etc need to be replaced for 5 to work again.

Connecting a 50 amp current guage


to the main fuse box under the hood between the fused side of the main junction across from batt. connection ( caution ---- make sure you fuse that line in case of a short) in fire wall and use no less then 6ga wire if this is not a shunted amp meter if it is shunted use proper fuse and wire for the shunt

2002 Chevy Impala Blower resistor location


It is on the passenger side, you have to remove the black plastic kick plate, below the glove box, to expose it (held in place with 2 latches and 1 push pin). The resistor is in front of the blower motor ( sandwiched between the motor housing and the firewall) it is tricky to get to, i think when i changed mine i didnt replace all the screws as they were difficult to remove and even harder to replace. Check charging system


Do you have gauges on this car also?
If so, you may have a problem with what is called a "current shunt" resistor. This will prevent the car from recharging the battery....accordianman
