SOURCE: 1992 Camaro RS 305 V8, Auto

A knock is not good. Does it change when you put the car in gear? Is it loud enough to hear at idle? If it changes in gear then it is a possible cracked flywheel. If not you can idle the car pull the plug wires 1 at a time to see which one changes the sound. This will tell you which cyl has the problem. If it changes pulling the wires then it is an internal engine problem, get ready to spend some money, sorry. Good Luck.

I own a 1977 GMC Sierra C25 with a 5.0L V8 305 cu in. I would like to know what each of the two screws on the front of my carburetor are.

Down low at the base near the intake manifold are two slender pointed air/fuel mixture screws with springs on them. While running at idle, Turn them in until it starves and almost dies at idle then back out 1/4 turn. Usually out from closed stop about 1 1/2 turns.

Need an emissions schamatic for my 1984 K10 silverado 305 engine

Unfortunately, there are 13 variations for this engine and year. Was this truck sold or modified for high altitude? Was it sold in California or modified to meet the CA emission standards? Does it have a manual or auto transmission? After narrowing down based on answers to these questions, there are still alternative configurations depending on the particular equipment, so look carefully at the diagrams to see which components are used on your engine. Sometimes you can match the 3 letter code for the diagram to letters in the VIN or a sticker in the engine compartment. Please let me know if you have questions.

Have an 85 impala with the factory 305 V8. Need a new carb. Trying to see if this year model uses a computer ctrl carb? Or maybe even advice on how to tell if a carb is computer ctrl. Thanks

The carb for this year model is not computer controlled. At most it might have an electric choke. How will you know? It will have a wire or wires goting to the passenger side of the carb connected to the choke. Other than that, no, the carb is not electronic. Hope this helps.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5821173-doesnt_car_start_gasoline_engines . Do the spark test mentioned there. If there is no spark, replace the coil. I am attaching the ignition wiring diagram and 2 vacuum diagrams--one for auto trans and one for stick shift. Let me know if you have any questions.

if you can not find a diagram in the immediate area under your hood contact the location you purchased your new belt they will be able to provide you with this information for free and likely print it out for you, or purchase/obtain a Chilton or other service manual from your local parts suppler the information will defiantly be identified under belt replacement within.

Hard shifting

Sounds like maybe you missed the vacuum line on the back of the carb to the modulator valve on the trans. Also check your throttle linkage to make sure it it exactly the same as what you took off. It's quite possible that it is a little different and there is either not enough or too much play in the kickdown cable. To be properly positioned it should be snug at idle without it being pulled out or hanging slack. Hope this helps.
