Question about 2003 GMC Yukon XL

2 Answers

My brother's sprayed engine cleaner on my 2003 Yukon XL and then washed it off with a water hose. 30 minutes later while driving my ABS plue Parking Brake lights came on with a message saying Check Brake System. Is this a coincidence or could they have messed something up or have gotten something wet in the wiring or computers or something? The lights come on now everytime I am driving but sometimes it can be 1 minute or 5 minutes or 10 minutes. If the light is not on my ABS brakes DO work. When the lights are ON the ABS does not work. I've been given two different codes by a mechanic. One is P0265 and the other is C0550. Please help.

C0550 is the code for the ABS module. It is on the frame under the vehicle around the drivers door area. It is a module with all the brake lines coming from it. Reset the trouble codes and see if the problem returns. If it does, the module is not serviceable and will need to be replaced.

Ok so how do you reset the trouble codes? Also, I was given a code od P0265. What does that code mean? Thank you so much for your help. : - )

  • TJ McDonald Mar 25, 2011

Disconnect the negative battery cable for five minutes and reconnect to reset the codes. P0265 has to do with fuel injector, cylinder 2 and not ABS. It may go away once codes are reset.

Hey. I need a picture or diagram of location vacuum hoses/lines for a 2003 GMC yukon xl? How many lines/hoses are there? My truck engine came on and lost of power and rough idle. They say it a crack r

There are only 2 vacuum hoses on that engine Sean. One from the intake to the vacuum brake booster, One to the fuel pressure regulator. pull the small hose off of the fuel press regulator and see if gas/fuel is present. if so, replace or have the regulator replaced. typically, I find problems with the EGR tube being rotted and sucking air. this causes a lean code usually. you can spray the EGR tube to check it by spraying choke cleaner into the silver portion of the sleeve around it. if you notice the idle smooths out or picks up, you need to replace the egr pipe which includes both pipes being from the right side exhaust manifold to the intake with the egr pedestal attached to them. good luck, keep me posted on your progress

Oil change tech says my idle relearn needs fixing on my 2001 Yukon XL...can my husband do this?

{: ) Anytime the powertrain control module (PCM) or the battery is disconnected, the PCM loses power, or the PCM is reprogrammed, the PCMs learned idle position is lost. The engine idle is unstable when the learned idle position is lost. For a 2001 Yukon XL, you can try these steps: Automatic Transmission
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Restore the PCM battery feed. ( IF it was disconnected)
  3. Turn OFF the A/C controls.
  4. Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
  5. Start the engine.
  6. Ensure that the engine coolant temperature is more than 80°C (176°F).
  7. Shift the transmission into Drive.
  8. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes.
  9. Shift the transmission into Park.
  10. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes.
  11. Turn OFF the engine for 30 seconds.
Manual Transmission
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Restore the PCM battery feed. (IF it was disconnected)
  3. Turn OFF the A/C controls.
  4. Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
  5. Place the transmission in Neutral.
  6. Start the engine.
  7. Ensure that the engine coolant temperature is more than 80°C (176°F).
  8. Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes.
  9. Turn OFF the engine for 30 seconds.
After the procedure, you can do testing and observations. If unsuccessful, you may repeat the steps.
Also, the best time to relearn idle is after a throttle body clean (from carbon deposits)

Have a 2003 gmc yukon and every now and then ill be driving and as i'm about to make a turn the truck will shut it's self off. I turn the truck back on and it turns on without a problem.

I suggest performing a throttle body cleaning.
Remove the black air filter housing and hose going to
engine. Grab some rubber gloves, carburater cleaner, and
rags. Open throttle plate , spray some cleaner onto a rag
then clean plate and housing. DO NOT SPRAY CLEANER
INTO THROTTLE BODY BECAUSE ELECTRICAL SENSORS
MAY GET DAMAGED. Make sure throttle plate moves freely
and does not stick. Re- install housing and hose.
Test drive and confirm repair. Good luck.

I have a 2003 gmc yukon 5.3 the engine idles rough sometimes the idle will get so low the engine will shut off.(the engine runs good while driving) hooked to scaner po101 maf/vaf (dont know what vaf is),...

you have a vacume leak somewhere.check all of your vacume hoses for leaks.Injector seals can cause this too. Also intake gaskets could be leaking.Running to lean usually means the car is getting to much air coming in.To check leaks spray brake cleaner around the hoses and the bottom of your intake if the rpms change then you found a leak.

GMC Yukon - ABS light and parking brake light come on while driving but they will go out if the car is restarted. Could it be a sensor or ECBM?

try to pull up on your parking brake pedal with your hand when light comes on. if this makes it go out u will need to adjust the parking brake switch under the pedal. or replace pedal spring that holds it up.

Yukon xl 2003 when i turn air on sometimes it wil sputter or stale whats the problem

It sound like your air idle control valve may have gone bad or the wire harness has unclipped. The common problem is the air idle control valve has carbon build up. Try spraying Throttle body cleaner, (NOT CARBURETOR CLEANER)in through the throttle body. USE the whole can, just follow the instruction on the can. Once that has been done, turn the engine off, turn the ignition key to the run position for 30 seconds and then turn if off for 10 seconds then start it and let idle for 1 min and go for a test drive. If it's still stalling check all the wire connection to the air idle control valve and try cleaning it again. If that doesn't work then your going to have to replace the air Idle control valve. Try cleaning it first the cost of the control valve is around $100.00 give or take and most dealers will try cleaning it first before they replace it, since they know you'll be back for it to be cleaned again in the future telling you they manage to save you some money buy cleaning the one you have. Good luck and hope this helps.
