The brakes are really hard to push.they dont stop the truck like they should and the passenger side rear is trying to lock up.

Do you feel the brake pedal go down when you hold you foot on the pedal while starting the truck ? Maybe the power booster is bad. The power brake booster is vacuum controlled in most cases an if you hold your foot on the brake pedal when starting you should feel the pedal go down if working correctly .

1978 chev motorhome brakes are hard to push down to stop

If they are standard power brakes, check the vacuum booster. The diaphragm may be broken. If it holds a vacuum it's OK. If the brakes run through the power steering pump, make sure the belt is tight and the steering is smooth.

92 Chevy pickup front tier heats up and shakes the vehical after driving for a few minutes

I'm going to guess that you are complaining about a brake caliper failing to release the rotor when you take your foot off the brake pedal. I had this problem with my 1989 Chev Cheyenne 1/2 Ton Pickup. The brake would lock down and the wheel would become quite warm. I replaced the caliper unit, but that didn't solve the problem. The problem turned out to be a bad flexible brake hose at that wheel. Incredibly, these hoses wear out and are susceptible to collapsing internally causing a restriction in the fluid flow. The hose looked fine from the outside. Once a put a new one on, problem solved! This might be your problem, too.

Other causes could be a malfunctioning proportioning valve, a malfunctioning power brake booster unit, a binding brake pedal, binding brake pads or a sticking piston in the caliper.

Emergency brake not working after changing rear brake shoes on a 1990 gmc pickup 1500 series? And how do I release the emergency pedal from the floor? It won't release when you step on it?

Was the brake shoes replacement a DIY or professional job. If DIY, are you certain that you reassembled the brakes properly? Does the truck move at all? Does it feel as though the e-brake is applied? With the e-brake pedal to the floor, the truck should not move freely when the accelerator pedal is depressed. The emergency brake assemblies on both rear wheels are connected to a cable assembly that ultimately leads to the e-brake pedal. The cable has an adjustment point and a spring tensioner to prevent slack in the cable. First, crawl under and physically check the cable tension. If it's loose, either the cables are not connected to the rear wheels' brake assemblies, not connected properly, or the cable and/or pedal is damaged/broken. If the cable is tight - overly tight, but the e-brake is not holding the truck from moving, the e-brake levers attached to the shoes inside the brake drums are likely not installed correctly. Double check your installation and consider replacing the e-brake cable (as a precaution). As for the pedal, you may have to remove it in order to get the ratchet-locking mechanism to release.
Of course, if this was a professional job, call the shop and have them make it right. Good luck.

Ok please help I was pumping gas today when I was all done I get in my 1500 dodge ram pickup i start the truck (no problem) then I tried to shift my gear to drive the shift indicator was stuck!! WTF damn...

This truck has a park lock, this locks out the shifter unless the brake light is pressed, the electric solenoid that disengages the lock pin is powered by the brake light circuit, so the 1st thing you do is make sure the brake light work, if they do you have much more serious issue like a sticking release cable from the park lock solenoid.

I replaced front and back brakes on my 1996 1500 Chev Suburban. Bled the brakes starting at the farthest line. The pedal is soft and travels too far. Does not seem to stop very good. What is the...

it sounds like there is still air in the brake system that has not been removed.you don`t say if you replaced the brake pads and shoes(in which case you shouldn`t need to bleed)or you replaced a brake line(s) or wheel cylinder or caliper.you will have to keep bleeding the brakes all 4 wheels(trucks don`t use bi-directional braking meaning right rear brakes with left front and so on).bleed both rear brakes then bleed both front brakes, was this problem there before you replaced the brakes(soft pedal noticed) and this is why you changed the brakes or the pedal was soft and the brakes needed changing.its possible that the master cylinder has an internal leak and may need replacing.

98 Chevy pickup brake lights just stopped working has 2 separate fuses both are fine One relay labeled brake it tests OK Stop light switch replaced Rest of the tail lights work fine What else could B?

have you tried to find the brake pedal switch? follow the brake pedal under the dash and there should be a switch that the brake pedal presses to activate the lights when you push it in . if everything else has been checked then I suspect that the switch has moved enough to not work or it may be just bad. let me know if this was it.... hope this works
