Hi, P0741 essentially it means the transmission is trashed.
The torque converter has a lock-up clutch inside to mechanically couple the transmission to the engine above 40 miles per hour. that improves fuel economy.
The code is generated when the converter isn't locking up. unfortunately the only reason that happens is debris from wear inside the transmission gets into the hydraulic passage where the oil flows to the torque converter clutch and blocks the oil flow. when that happens the converter can't be engaged. the wear comes from the internal components in the transmission.
You can try flushing the transmission and replacing the lock-up solenoid but 99 out of 100 times you'll have to replace the transmission.

Hello,
P0741 is a code for - Torque Converter CKT Performance OR Stuck Off

First, check the TCC fuses in the fuse panel inside the car. Make sure the transmission fluid is filled to the proper level as well. The TCC solenoid is located in the body valve. You can't replace this by yourself. You must replace all solenoids in the valve body because of the change in design. You might want to change the bus plate as well. This is kind of expensive. This might helps the slamming you experience when going in reverse. I think you need to put in a complete body valve, check the trans-axle connection at the top of your transmission for contaminated transmission fluid.

This is the third design change for them solenoids. Whenever they get replaced it must be with the same designed solenoid. The one that needs installed will have a metal top whereas the last two designs were a plastic design. The TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on this reads -

The third design 4.5 Ohm solenoid, part number 21003344, is replacing the second design 4.5 Ohm solenoid, part number 21003298.

They have to be purchased individually as they are not sold as a set and this must be done in a shop with a lot of tools and by a person with a lot of experience.

    Tony

My jeep wrangler just passed 100,000 miles, what service does it need?

Here is the basic maintenance list for your Jeep:

~ Inspect lights and check tire pressure at least monthly or before & after each trail ride

~ Oil & filter change, chassis lubrication, differential and transfer-case fluids every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or 3 to 4 months - if you have recently crossed through water deep enough to submerge the centre of your hubs, replace the differential fluids as a precaution

~ Underhood belt and hose inspection every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or 3 to 4 months (every oil change)

~ Tire rotation and wheel balancing every 6,000 miles or every other oil change - driving offroad can knock wheel weights off a wheel, so you may need to have this done more frequently

~ Brake inspection every 6,000 miles or every other oil change - if you have rum brakes in the rear, ensure they are cleaned after each trail ride where you encountered deep mud/snow

~ Replace air filter every 12,000 to 24,000 miles or as indicated by inspection - dusty trails can shorten these intervals dramatically

~ Replace fuel filter every 24,000 to 100,000 miles

~ Automatic transmission service every 24,000 to 100,000 miles

~ Wheel alignment check every 12,000 to 24,000 miles or as indicated by tire wear - offroad driving can knock wheels out of alignment, so budget for an alignment every 3 months, then watch tread wear to see if it's needed

~ Cooling system flush and refill every 40,000 to 100,000 miles

~ Belt and hose replacement every 60,000 to 100,000 miles or 5 to 8 years

~ Engine timing belt replacement every 60,000 to 100,000 miles (when equipped) or 5 to 8 years

~ Air conditioning performance check annually, usually in the spring - be sure to run your A/C during the winter for brief period to ensure all hoses and valves stay lubricated and operable

I did not get a vehicle scheduled maintenance guide with our used car, how often do we need to get the lube and oil and how often do we need to get tire rotation. we have a 2002 ford mustang.

Oil change every 3000 miles

air filter inspect every 3000 miles // less if you in the country
Change every 12,000 miles

There is nothing to lube on a modern day car!

Wheel bearing inspect every 12,000 miles.

Fuel filter 24,000 miles or less

Tire rotation is depending on are you a lead foot driver.
Keep tabs on the rear treads.
The rear wear faster on RWD car.
The idea is keep the wear even.

Shop around, some shop is offering free tire rotation with oil change!

I rotate my tires every 6000 miles.

Nissan Sentra 2002

Take it to your auto parts store in town (call around to find one that can before you leave your driveway) and have them do a radiator preesure test. Won't cost a dime. If it pressure to 30 p.s.i. and holds, you more than likely don't have a problem and the techs were pointing out a previous problem and didn't know it had been repired.
