The part is 175-200 dollars. Probably 200-250 labor.

I have a 2004 corolla that has a humming noise in the front when turning to the right.replaced the right front wheel bearing and noise still there.any ideas?

It's most likely the left wheel bearing that's causing the noise, when turning to the right the weight of the car shifts to the left placing more load on the left wheel bearing and takes load off the right bearing.

2003 Pontiac Grand AM.... When driving I keep getting a loud "humming/vibrating" sound from Front left tire. Tire treads are okay, need new tires soon, but I've been told possibly the wheel...

Wheel bearings are sealed on this particular GM vehicle. First thing to try is to place the front tires on the back of the vehicle and see if the sound changes. If the sound still comes from the front, have the wheel bearing checked at your local service center. Expect to pay between $200-250 to replace. If you decide to do it yourself, you can find the part for $60 at places like RockAuto.com.

Wheel bearings will generally last around 200K miles before they begin to show signs of failure. If you hit a curb on that side recently, that could cause a premature failure.

Popping and grinding with extreme wheel turns

Hi

This sounds very much like a problem with your front wheel bearings.

The Xterra Wheel Bearings need to be re-greased at least every 30k miles, and more often if you often go through water deep enough to reach the hubs. When the water gets in the hubs it contaminates the grease and damage can be done to the bearings. This will create a grinding noise and in severe cases even damage to the axle spindle.

You will need to have this looked at by a mechanic to fully assess the damage. Cost will very much be dependant on the extent of this damage.

This link gives an idea of the cost for bearings on the Xterra but obviously this does not include labor to fit. As I say the overall cost is difficult to predict until the full extent of the damage is known.

Hope this helps. Thanks for using FixYa.

I hear noise left side wheel everyday

I doubt its the bearing if its on both wheels at the same time. The likelihood of both going out at the same time is low, you'd expect one to give before the the other.

If you think its the bearing, jack up one of the front corners of the car and turn the wheel by hand, you should hear a noise (that'll confirm if its a bearing issue or not). Also wiggle it at the top and bottom, it should not move, if it does then that is also an indicator of a bad bearing.

If you do have a bad wheel bearing, and choose not to fix it, you risk over-heating the spindle and either breaking the wheel off (not good), or fusing it (so the wheel stops turning completely) - also not good. I have known people to drive mildly on a bad bearing for about a year, but if it is the bearing, you're better off fixing it sooner to reduce the risk of a huge bill later on

How do you change rear wheel bearing on a 2004 nissan sentra

Yes it is as easy as it looks. If you had the tire off and figured out that it looks easy, you shouldn't have much problem.

Scraping sound at very low speed (5MPH)

I have personally seen a lot of wheel bearings go bad on these vehicles. If you hear the noise get more pronounced when turning left, the right front (passenger side) bearing is most likely the culprit- if turning right, it would be the left front (driver side) bearing.

Hope this is helpful!!
