The igniter interprets signals of time and position from the distributor, fits the efi ecu with information and then the ecu gets back to igniter to tell it when to fire specific cylinder, we used to have problems with the distributors and also igniters.

the problem could be your catalic converter. run the car for 30 minutes and check under the car to see if your catalic converter i s red hot. if it is, replace it because it is clogged, also check your oxygen sensor,, check your air filter too.

Have you "reset" the computer on the car. When parts are replaced, the comp continues to run the vehicle on all the old settings which can drive you nuts because nothing you do will fix a problem. Usually, taking both battery cables off and waiting for 15 minutes will reset the computer. If this does not do it, then ask a dealer how to reset yours.
