Question about 1994 Toyota Pickup

Open Question

My 94 toyota 4x4 truck was running horrible, stalling, no power, loss of power on hills, and gas mileage cut in half. Has been running like this for a few weeks, it started with it running bad when it was cold, then fine after it was warm, then the other day it got much worse and was running bad all the time. We changed out the forward O2 sensor, the EGR valve, the engine coolant temp. sensor, throttle postioning sensor, has new spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, fuel filter, and have refilled the gas tank several times, then yesterday after almost runnig out of gas I filled it half way and immediately it began running normally again. Is this a coincidence or was it bad gas that took a long time to work its way out?

The igniter interprets signals of time and position from the distributor, fits the efi ecu with information and then the ecu gets back to igniter to tell it when to fire specific cylinder, we used to have problems with the distributors and also igniters.

SOURCE: No power on take off

the problem could be your catalic converter. run the car for 30 minutes and check under the car to see if your catalic converter i s red hot. if it is, replace it because it is clogged, also check your oxygen sensor,, check your air filter too.

SOURCE: Erratic Idle - When starts the idle is about 1100 RPM as it warms up, it goes to 700 - 400 RPM

Have you "reset" the computer on the car. When parts are replaced, the comp continues to run the vehicle on all the old settings which can drive you nuts because nothing you do will fix a problem. Usually, taking both battery cables off and waiting for 15 minutes will reset the computer. If this does not do it, then ask a dealer how to reset yours.

it could be a partially plugged catalytic converter. The catalyst stops working over time and can become plugged resulting in loss of power and is consistent with age of vehicle. Something to check

Accelerating on freeway and going up hill, loss of power. Feels like stalling, bogging out, or sucking air. '94 GMC Sonoma 4x4 PU.

check air filter, and fuel filter first...how many miles??? check for vacuum leaks, when was the last oil change done? check the spark plugs and wires . Once you go throught all of these since these are the cheap things to do you should be all set, Also you might have dirty injectors , no fuel no go....GOOD LUCK

What mileage do change 2006 toyota highlander spark plugs 3.3 v6

i would chande the plugs at or around 60,000 to 70,000 miles. this is about the correct mileage. they may last longer but not worth the expensence of converter damage due to misfire and also gas mileage loss.

1994 toyota 4x4 22re loses power when you push gas pedal or going up hill and the valves start to rattle then

I suspect your ignition timing is too advanced and the rattling sound is actually detonation (VERY VERY bad for your engine). Have your ignition timing set and your valves adjusted.
