Question about 1999 Chevrolet S-10 Pickup

1 Answer

I am going to tow my s-10 behind my motorhome on a tow dolly. Should I tow with front wheels on the ground or rear wheels? Also should I put the key in Acc position and transmission in neutral?

I will be towing my S-10 on a tow dolly. I was told that if I tow my truck with the front wheels on the dolly and rear wheels on the ground that I will ruin my transmission unless I disconnect the drive shaft. Can I tow the truck backwards with the rear wheels on the dolly and front wheels on the ground?

Place the transmission into "Neutral." If your S-10 model has a four-wheel drive transmission, make sure the transfer case is in "Neutral" as well before you start towing your S-10.

Attach the "V" shaped tow bar to the hitch and connect the tow ball hitch to the tow ball on the back of your motor-home. You should also connect safety chains from the motor home to the Chevy S-10 you are towing. These chains will prevent the vehicle being towed from going astray should the tow bar fail. Make sure that you use magnetic lamps for your car in tow, so other drivers can see when you are going to turn, or stop.

I would be afraid to tow with any of the wheels on pavement. You could burn out the central differential.

Towing car behind rv motorhome

Should be okay if you use a tow dolly. This means you drive the front wheels up on the tow dolly and strap the tires down. The rear wheels are like trailer tires and should roll as if they do when driven.

Can I tow my 2000 s type jaguar behind my motorhome

Yes if it is on a trailer.
You should never tow a vehicle with all four wheels on the ground unless you can disconnect the driveshaft.
And a car dolly won't work if the vehicle is rear wheel drive or all wheel drive.

Can you tow bravado with tow dolly

as long as the drive wheels are off the ground. So, if rear wheel drive, the rear wheels must be off the ground.
If front wheel drive, the front wheels must be on a dolly.
If all wheel drive, all 4 wheels mst be off the ground.

Do not tow it with any wheels on the ground it will burn up the trans and transfer case. If you use a dolly on the front remove the rear driveshaft.
