There are contacts inside the wiper motor. The electric signal from the steering column is going through to a part inside the wiper motor which is suppose to derail the electric contacts and shut off the wiper. Part of the system is working if the wipers shut off, but the other part which makes the cam inside complete the shut off cycle is not working.

You can check with an autoparts place to see if those small parts are available. Sometimes there are parts in a "Help" rack section that have odd parts like clips or fasteners which may fall off or break and keep a larger part from working (like your wipers). You would still need to get inside the wiper motor to change it.

Wiper motors are available in the Aftermarket or you can save money by using a Salvage yard. Your used wiper was working for many years until it finally broke. I hope my solution is very helpful to you in fixing your vehicle.

Where is wipers control module located on 1995 gran marquis

This is usually a contact inside the wiper motor. Some are accessible and some require replacing the wiper motor. The inside of the wiper motor jumps into a derailer which breaks the electric contact that keeps the motor turning. Once the motor cycles, it parks in the down position.

The insides of the wiper motor are suppose to coast without power into the Park position.

I had to force the windshield wiper down now then won't work. what can be the problem ?

Usually this means your wiper return contacts are bad. The internal workings of the wiper motor have a part which is called a derailer. It gets its' name from the function of pushing the mechanicals to a different track or rail. This track returns the wipers to a Park position.

Some designs can be cleaned, some not. The contacts can be worn beyond repair in either design.

You have a bad park in your wiper motor, just replace the wiper motor and it will fix your problem. I work for Yellow Cab of Kansas City and we have 240 crown vic's on our fleet. They are the same car pretty much and we have this problem all the time. Good Luck to ya!

My windsheild wipers keep getting stuck in the middle position when i turn them off

When a wiper motor does this it usually needs to be replaced. The Park circuit is not working. You may be able to see a ground wire on the motor beneath one of the mounting bolts. If you do find a wire, try cleaning the connection and bolting it down again and it may work.

There are contact points inside the case which are suppose to derail the wiper gear and put the wiper on a shut-off cam. When the cam finds the ground wire it parks the blades at the correct spot. In your case the motor is not finding the correct spot. Cleaning the ground wire may help.

Depending on the construction of the motor casing, you may be able to WD40 the inside of the gearbox. It may or may not help.

I hope you found my solution informative and helpful.
