Automatics have a dipstick on the passenger side under the hood. Add ATF with a funnel, engine idling and transmission in park. Standard shift has an oil level plug on the side of the transmission.

Yes engine needs to be idlin. Pull transmission dipstick and clean it with a piece of paper. Reinsert and pull out and if fluid level is at dotted lines its to proper level. Below dotted lines add fluid as needed.

Cant find in manual. Where to ck the transmission fluid

Have the car running and in park to allow the fluid to warm up. A picture is attached to show the location of the dip stick. This is also where you will add fluid if needed.

Need a picture of where the dipstick is located on a 2000 grand am

You must be referring to the transmission, There is no dip stack anymore.

The level is checked by removing a plug in the transmission while the engine is running. Add fluid until it comes out the the plug hole.

Refer to your owners manual.

Hope this tip helps.

How do you check or change transmission fluid on a 2001 Pontiac Grand am GT?

Draining the system is easy,,It can be messy,, loosen the transmission oil pan bolts slowly allowing the pan to drop down fluid will spill out ..Checking the trans fluid , The transmission and fluid must be at 80 degrees celcius..and the car raised level and remove the 10 mm threaded plug at the passenger side of the trans on the tailstock end and if fluid comes out then its at the proper level..add fluid at the red cap located on top of the trans..at the drivers side....good luck

00 Pontiac Grand Am GT may need transmission service...

Pretty likely the unit has internal sealing problems. Make sure the fluid is full (if no dipstick, you have a sight plug on the housing near the right axle on housing that needs to be opened and filling is done by putting fluid into the top fill plug 'till it begins to run form plug hole)
If full, have a shop check it out...seals should not be replaced by themselves, job requires a "soft parts" overhaul.

'00 transmission fluid.

Take the transmission fluid dipstick out of the tube in the engine compartment and using a funnel that fits nicely into the tube, pour in the correct amount of transmission fluid. Remember too that unlike engine oil, transmission fluid is to be measured when hot and engine is running.

Low transmission fluid

Easy....you have to get under the car and remove the filler plug ABOVE the drain plug. You fill it till it comes out of that hole. You have what is called a closed cased transmission. Filling your transmission is very similar to filling a rear differential case.

Hope this helps!
