Question about 2001 Mazda 626 LX 2.0L L4 Which Brake Shoe goes Where, Longer one front or back and vise versa?

Longer brake shoe goes in the rear, these are called self energizing brakes, this is how it works, the shorter front shoe forces the longer rear shoe into the drum when the brakes are applied reducing needed pressure to apply the brakes, the rear shoe does most of the braking..

The primary shoe is the larger of the two. It goes to the rear of the drum. The secondary is the shorter of the two and goes towards the front.

Having problem putting the rear brake drums on. Rear brake adjustment. Need a picture of the rear brake adjustment.

I don't have a picture for you, but the adjustment is done with the cam that is on the parking brake strut. just stick a small screwdriver between the ratchet teeth (it will slide back slightly under spring tension) it will then rotate on the strut assembly. if you rotate it one way it will make the strut longer (push the brake shoes out) and if you rotate it the other way it will make it shorter and bring the brake shoes in.

I bought a used 93 ford ranger and the guy who sold it did a ,ot off the repairs himself halfass. the brakes feel spongy thru the first half of the pedal. and the brakes arent very poweful. the kid said he...

first, dont buy any car from some DIY yahoo thats too cheap to pay for brakes, that can get you killed. About the rear clunk, theres a problem so take the drums off, and the problem should be obvious. you may need a hardware kit and a picture of what the brake shoes are supposed to look like properly mounted
