Question about 2005 Cadillac CTS

2 Answers

While driving, my dash went out. I have speedo and tach, but no fuel or temp gauges, no shift lever indicator lights, theft lock light is on and key will not come out after shutting off the engine. Car starts and runs as normal. Any suggestions?

I need to know too. My Cadillac just did the EXACT something. Only difference with mine is car will start as normal but I'm unable to put it in drive or in any gear for that matter. Any advice would be appreciated I figure its something to do with a fuse. I know there's 3 fuse boxes my cadillac. I'll start from there if I find a solution ill post for future reference

2003 Satria, Tacho and Fuel gauge dont work . Fuel gauge comes up now & again low fuel light works. Tacho works now & again. But speedo and temp do work all the time.

It may be that the speedo and temp are mechanical, whereas the tach and fuel are electrical. Check fuse for inst. cluster for clean and tight fitment. Check electrical connection at back of inst. cluster.

Instruments don't work, key stuck in ignition, doesn't shift correctly

Sounds like you need a new car.
With joking aside, the problem with your speedo, tach, gas guage, temp gauge and odometer can probably be one of two things. Check your fuses. If they are fine you may need to replace your cluster panel. I had to have the entire thing changed over my speedo not working right. It was not cheap. You might want to check the relay box under the hood. Does your transmission leak? Check the fuses and relay on it also. Get a new ignition switch and replace the old one if your key is stuck. You can try WD40 on that key but don't expect any miracles. The bearings are likely shot. Sorry I posted all of this bad news. Good luck.

You have some wiring problems shorting out that is coming from the dash board so if you or anyone you know how to use a multimeter to check the wireing harnesses plus check any connectors that might be just very touching the connector of dashboard which means a bad connection to dashboard.

This problem drove me crazy for 2 weeks. Then the car just stopped running. It would turn over but it would not fire. I replaced the crank and camshaft sensors. That did nothing. I replaced the ignition switch and the car started right up. So if your dash indicator lights start doing a light show for you and your gages jump around or just stop working. Try replacing the ignition switch.
