Hi, to be certain, you have to trace the cables. The negative cable will bolt directly to the engine casting or to the frame. The positive cable will go to a terminal on the starter solenoid or to a terminal on the fuse box.

How do you remove replace the battery in a 2006 BMW M5

The battery is located in the trunk on the passenger side. There should be either a bracket with "2" 13mm bolts or a bracket at the rear of the battery with a long 10mm bolt holding the battery in place (sometimes there will be both types of bolt present). Of course the first thing you want to do is make sure the vehicle is off. It is recommended that you wait at least 3 minutes before disconnecting the battery to ensure the engine computer's relay has fully discharged. Secondly, make sure that you don't have a battery charger or jump box connected to the vehicle at the jump points found under the engine hood. Once that's done and you've removed the brackets you can remove the negative cable first followed by the positive cable (if you are unfamiliar vehicle electrical systems you may want to remove the negative cable before removing any securing brackets). NOTE: the battery is heavy. You may need someone to hold the cables out of the way while you lift the battery out. At this point you can now install the replacement battery following your removal procedure in reverse. Make sure that you connect the positive cable first before connecting the negative cable. Now comes the really hard part. 1) You will need to make sure your replacement battery has the same AH (amp/hour) rating as the original battery. If it does not your vehicle may require programming at you local BMW dealership. Your engine computer controls the output of your alternator based on that rating. 2) You will need to take your vehicle to the dealership to have the new battery "registered" to the vehicle. As a battery ages in your car many systems restrict their operation to prevent complete battery discharge (i.e: a/c blower motor). Simply replacing the battery will not restore these systems to full operation. The car needs to be told that there is a new battery before full function will be restored. Some independent repair shops that are familiar with BMW's may have equipment that can register a battery. You will have to check for availability in your area.

Where is the starter located in a 2000 plymouth neon

The starter is located under the car where the transmission and engine meet toward the front of the neon. The starter actually bolts up with face toward the transmission. You must get the car up on ramps or on a hoist to see the starter.

Removal:
  • Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  • Raise vehicle on hoist.
  • Remove starter bolts.
  • Remove starter assembly.
  • Disengage latch and remove solenoid connector from starter assembly.
  • Remove battery positive connector from starter assembly.
  • It is not necessary to remove the alternator output lead from the connector.
Installation:
  • Clean corrosion/dirt from the cable and wire terminals before installing wiring to the solenoid.
  • Attach battery positive connector to starter.
  • Ensure alternator output connector is snapped into the battery positive connector.
  • Tighten the captive nut to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.) .
  • CAUTION: It is critical that the alternator output terminal be connected to the battery positive terminal of the starter solenoid, for proper operation of the charging and cranking systems.
  • Install solenoid connector to starter.
  • Ensure that latch is fully engaged.
  • Position the starter face into transmission housing.
  • Start bottom mounting bolt and thread in until bolt is snug.
  • Attach ground cable to upper starter mounting bolt.
  • Ensure the proper starter alignment before tightening the starter mounting bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque.
  • Lower vehicle and connect negative battery cable.

How do i unhook the battery in my 2000 saturn?

Before you attempt to disconnect the battery make sure you have eye protection on. To disconnect the battery there should be a rubber cover over the positive (red) connector on the battery. LEAVE IT THERE FOR NOW. Using a 5/16" wrench (or a 8mm wrench) disconnect the negative (- or black) cable from the battery then pull back the rubber boot on the positive (+ or red) cable and remove the bolt holding on that cable. When reconnecting the battery connect the positive cable first then the negative cable.

A month ago I bought A used 2000 elantra it used to start fpr the first try In the same time I changed the engine oil and Trying to put a good battery when I finished it did not start.

Verify (test) the battery is good/charged. Verify good, clean cable connections (positive & negative, correct polarity). Inspect positive and negative cables for loosness (positive cable condition to starter connection - clean/tight) negative cable condition to ground connection clean/tight). Replace/repair/clean/tighten cable(s) as needed. Did you remove/disconnect any components from the engine when you replaced the battery? If so, did you remember to put/reconnect them back?
