Question about 1995 GMC Sierra

1995 gmc sierra 6.5 turbo diesel, i was climbing a hill with my pick up loaded the truck stop and the oil came out of the bell housing is it the transmission or the torque converter, when a put back oil in the transmission the oil comes out right away a the belle housing the pick up doesn't move and there is no noise.

Over heating is common for that model. Leads to cracked heads and other issues. Make sure pump is good, radiator is clean inside and out, check coolant for proper dilution.

I'm not so sure that the bell housings are the same. I know that the older ones were different. I would recommend calling A GMC dealer and ask someone in there service department your questions and a good dealer should gladly answer your questions.

How do you know that the rear main needs to be replaced?


if there is engine oil inside bell housing dripping out the bottom. that is a good sign

What kind of power should I expect to have, I have no point of reference, as I have never owned a diesel rig before, seems to have lackluster power on the hills, I have to really put my foot into it to...


diesel engines have loads of pulling power(towing/loaded)but you need to use the gears to keep the revs at peak torque.1st is a crawler gear(very low ratio).put car in 3rd going down steep hills saves the gearbox overheating.....

Truck just shuts off


I own the same 3500 GMC 6.5 diesel truck with the same problem. We replaced the brain under the upper turbo hood and it fixed it pronto. No more shutoffs
