Sounds like the speedometer cable was not reinstalled or perhaps broken during the
work. Not an expensive part (around 20 dollars), but should be reinstalled to prevent
getting a ticket for speeding (expensive). Hope this helps.

Is it automatic tranny?
Does it occur after driving for a while or right the hope first thing after first start up of the day, what are the ambient temp when it occurs. Have you recently done any repairs to the car/engine/tranny? have you check fluid levels, binding linkage?

Speedometer is not working an check engine light is on. What can be the problem?

On Hondas, I have seen this problem of the Check Engine light on when the speedometer did not work. This is a problem with the drive cable not turning. 1. The cable might be broken. 2. If any recent work was done to the car, someone may not have connected the speedometer cable back. This was exactly what happened to me after I was trying to troubleshoot a noise from the speedometer. 3. The cable is not turning due to a probem where it connects to the transmission.

! change a old speed sensor for a new one in my Toyota pick-up 1992 but the speedometer still not work, somebody knows what can be wrong?

it is done completly by electric connection..? on a 92 pick up i belive it still has a speedo cable located at the tail of the tranny.. either the gear is bad or the cable is broken ..if it has cruize control there are two cables one tranny to cruize box and then cruize box to speedo

My speedometer stopped working. i have already

I'm not sure with that type of vehicle, but on my 91 S10 my speedometer did not work at all also. The problem with that was the sensor that plugged into my tranny was missing so it was not reading anything. If you have a sensor that goes into the tranny it may be bad or missing so in my opinoin i would try checking that.

1996 Ford Winstar w/ recent tranny flush

well, i used to work at a transmission repair shop, and it is true that you're supposed to overfill these transmissions, but only by ONE quart. 4 quarts would certainly cause a big problem if thats what they did. the speedometer issue however is related only to the vehicle speed sensor which is a common problem on this transmission. i would STRONGLY recommend you bring it to a transmission repair shop (obviously a different one than before) becuase this sensor gets corroded and can be just awful to replace.

also, with your speed sensor not working, your transmission will go into limp mode and will have at most two gears. this is normal. as for the fluid leakage, it could be related to them over-overfilling the transmission and the fluid coming out the vent.

Speedometer runs erratic and transmissions drops to second gear.

The ECM or TCM may be the culprit, its also possible that a ground wire is no longer grounded or partially grounded giving you the erratic speedometer.
