Open Question

I need to replace the tailgate window regulator on an 04 XUV Envoy. The door is in the up position and must be down to remove a track bolt low on the door. I have located and unlocked the drivers side manual release but the passenger side is not releasing. any help would be appreciated.

I do not have the XUV model but I know that my Envoy has an electronic sounding latch lock when I close my tailgate. I would check the fuses and electrical connections. I hope that this helps.

look under the latch and see if you see a metal rod. if you do, pull the rod and it should open.

I found that loosening the bolts on the inside of the tailgate made the job a little easier. Don't remove them. I could get to the trim piece from the inside to make sure I didn't break it. Pep Boys does sell the small package of clips for about $1.00. Make sure you don't break the clip and hope it works anyway like I did and ended up doing the job twice. I should have bought a second package of clips.

SOURCE: No sound comming from the left side speakers in my 04 Envoy XUV.

first> road vibrations can cause cable connections to come loose so you can start by taking out your radio and making sure all of the questions in the back are connected as they should be.
Second> if this doesnt seem to work then the next step is to check the wires going to the speakers that arnt working (this will b quite a job, but if you can do it, it will save u quite a bit of money) .. checking the wires your checking for >bad connection to the speakers >cuts in the wire or if any part of the wire is touchin any other metal object

SOURCE: How to replace the tailgate hinge (tailgate side). There is only 1 bolt visable and once it is remove the hing still won't come off.

There are 2 bolts according to the GM service site. One on the side and one on the bottom of the tail gate. You will need to remove the tail gate to access the bottom bolt. Good Luck

How to fix my rear tailgate window

check the fuse/relay. if it is neither of these check the switch with a multimeter. If you can hear the motor trying to move the glass when you try the switch it may be the regulator needs attention. It may be the motor needs to be replaced.

check fuse and relay along with the switch first then the regulator and motor afterwards. Replacing the small electronics is obviously easier than having to open up the tailgate to check the mechanics of the winedow.

My tailgate window is stuck in the downward position and the regulator is broken. Do I have buy tracks with the regulator? Help me

Hi there,

That really depends on what you mean by "broken".

Most electric window regulators have motors which can be replaced - is it just your motor not working, or the actual mech, cable?

If you just need a motor only (not the entire regulator mechanism), you may get away with just obtaining another motor, from your local automotive dismantler/wrecker.

The regulators can usually be removed fairly easily, if you know what you're doing.

Cheers,

Scott

Back window off track

before you go and buy anything,it may be a good idea to open the rear door panel and see if the window just came of the rail guides on the regulator, there are two white small wheels on the regulator that ride on a guide rail attached to the window this rail is attached to the window by two rivets or bolts, just take the cover panel of and see what is the matter in there. here ara steps to get there.

  1. Remove the assist strap hole cover, bolt and assist strap.
  2. Using a screwdriver, remove the back door trim cover.
NOTE Tape the screwdriver tip before use to avoid damaging the trim pieces.
  3. Remove the plate and disconnect the electrical connector.
  4. Remove the back door glass.
  5. Remove the window regulator and glass guide rail.
  6. Installation is the reverse order of removal.

pull the plastic off of the tailgate and make sure the small wire looking controls are still hooked up. sometimes they will pop out after alot of use. other thing is make sure the rear actuator is actually working (it could be bad)

2004 envoy xuv tailgate problems, will not latch or open sideways. I have a 02 Envoy SLT the rear liftgate Dose not have power. the wipers dont work the Lock dont work I can not program my keyless entry....

I also have a 2004 GMC XUV. My gate would go down but not swing open. In trying to fix it, the gate then refused to go to the flat position.I have removed the cover plate on the gate and found the one of the solenoids loose from its mounting. Resetting the computer by disconnecting both battery leads and holding them together for ten seconds worked to restore function to the gate going flat, but the swing still does not work. I believe it is a bad solenoid or motor for the bottem left latch pin.

the actuators have a white stem that sticks out of the bottom of them. if you push up on the ones on the driver side it will open the back hatch for you.
