Question about 1999 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

My rear driver's side window stopped working. Before it was dead, the window (or motor) made some weird sound when it rolled to top. Now it doesn't pull window up at all. I can move the window up by hand, but it won't stay there and will move down back due to gravity but all the way to the bottom. When I pull the switch, I can hear the motor rolling. I have taken the panel off. Without taking regulator apart, I can't see the problem. So is the motor dead? Do I need to replace the regulator and motor all together? Thanks.

It's easier and wiser to go ahead and change both/sounds like your regulator cable snaped

Ensure that the window is on the track, this is a common issue, your cable may have snapped, but before you go replacing and spending money on this stuff ensure that the window is in the track.

I have an 07 avalanche that did that to to the rear window. It was the switch. Take drivers side switch plate off and use one of the good switches on the drivers door. If it works roll it all the way to top and get urself a new switch. iIf it does not work then its the window motor. Good luck.............

I would suspect the window switch on the door. Sounds like the down switch part off the switch may not be working. Before replacing the switch I would get some spray that is made to clean electrical contacts. Should have it at any auto parts store or even radio shack. Spray the electrical contacts on the switch and clean it up real good and see how it does.

not weird at all,you dont use ,so its jammed up.end of story ,remove door panel and give motor a light wack with something not to heavy whilst someone hold the switch in the up position with engine running to give an bit more voltage to window motor

The rear door driver side window on the Lexus ES300 will not open. The other windows are operating well.

I replace glass in cars for a living and I see this often. I also own an 02 ES300 which had the same problem. It's usually from lack of use that a rear doorglass stops working. The electric motor gets some corrosion in it and stops working. I repeatedly slapped the interior door panel while activating the switch that rolls the glass up or down. After about 5-10 minutes of this it started to work. If you get lucky like I did, make sure you roll the window up and down multiple times if you get it to work. Then remember to occasionally roll all the other windows up and down a few times every week or so to keep this from happening again. Good luck!

97 Accord drivers side window won't go up or down....

Window motors & regulators go bad every day. Pull your door panel, unplug the motor, if you have an ohm meter apply the leads to the leads into the motor. One will be ground the other two will raise and lower (reverse) the motor. If you show resistance between the leads the motor windings are good and the problem may be the window regulator. If you do not have an ohm meter, you can run two wires (one ground, the other hot) and test the motor by applying elec to it.

Divers window won't roll up my Camry

No won't be fuse. My guess is there is something faulty with the main controller. You could probably verify this by trying the switch on right rear passenger door. If it works there then the problem is at the main controller in the driver door. Could be a loose wire or the switch itself is broken.

3 of My Windows Stopped Rolling

Check to see if the "lockout" button on the driver side master switch is depressed. This button, when activated, kills all power to the other 3 windows.
