I would check the vacuum hoses to see if any of them are leaking, and correct the problem as needed, if this doesn't correct the problem, then i would check the plugs and wires. then the egr valve.

Zx2 ran fine for a bit after timing belt change, now no start.

suspect the timing belt tension was to low and has jumped a few teeth initially(run rough) and then jumped further or stripped teeth(will not start at all).
check timing belt position setup....
if its 1-2 teeth out of timing you could put a new belt on with engine correctly setup.
.if its completely wrong the your engine will have internal damage(valves bent and pistons dented)

The age of your vehicle also guarantee's a vacuum leak. It may sound silly but the truth is rubber grommets, and hose's shrink and dry out over time and the harsh environment under the hood makes it worse. Check all vacuum lines and fittings attached to the intake manifold, valve covers (pcv valve), and be sure to check for a vacuum fitting on top of the intake just behind the throttle body. Does it fit tight in the hole? You can seal loose fittings with a high-temp RTV (Red) silicone sealant/adhesive. Several small leaks add up and your engine, heat/AC, and transmission will be all to glad to tell you about it.

You stated the engine smooths out when you let off the acclerator. That closes the throttle and increases vacuum in the intake manifold. The leak could be anywhere. On the engine, under the hood, in the dash, along the frame towards the rear, or at the vapor canister.

What are engine mounts in a Kia Sedona 2003

Your engine is running rough causing it to "jump or hop" around causing it to rattle. If mostly during raain I would check ignition wires, not mounts

the coil might be going bad operating at higher voltage for a long time will burn it out the resister is bypassed during crank because while cranking battery voltage drops down

Whistling sound coming from engine during acceration and also from time to time it hesitates to go from a stop and when you give it more gas it takes off like a rocket.

I will assume you have not had the timing checked on your Mazda.

The whistling sound could be too much air or air going into the engine at the wrong time. I can not be sure until the timing is checked and you are sure your firing order is correct. I would also check the wires and replace them along with the plugs.

Hesitation is a dead give away of one of the preceding. You can say that it is wasteful to replace all the items without knowing if they are bad. I look at it this way. I can replace most of those above for what a mechanic is going to charge me for 1 hour.

Any questions and I will be more than willing to walk you through any rough spots. Let me know.

93 chevrolet truck bogging down on acceleration

Check intake gaskets. Pour warm soapy water on the gasket when it's running. If it bubbles like crazy, you have a leak. 2. Check timing. Shoot a timing light at the crank mark. If it jumps around a lot, your chain has jumped. #3. check cam. Remove valve covers, run the engine, and see if they are all raisng the valves the same. Put a piece of cardboard along the bottom, and fold it around a little, so it forms kind of a " half valve cover". That way you won't lose oil everywhere, and make a mess, or a fire.

1991 VW Cabriolet runs rough during idle

Check the hose between the inletmanifold and the pipe to the brakeservo it normally gets old and a crack in so the engine sucks false air on cylinder 4, causing engine to run rough or uneven.

Running really rough

Spark plugs, Ignition wiring, ignition coil, or high tension cord may be faulty. They must be inspected one by one and replaced if necessary.
