Thats usually how it goes but normally .. 1st gets hot , 2cd loss of oil pressure, heat gasket goes, down hill from there. i race cars and see this alot sucks...now u have a decision to make , do i fix or what.

Coolant boiling problem


There are a number of possibilities:
1. Not enough anti-freeze in the cooling system. Anti-freeze not only protects against freezing, but also boil-over.
2. Defective thermostat. If it is stuck closed or partially so, it can cause overheating.
3. Clogged radiator.
4. Defective water pump.
5. Blown head gasket.

Water pump is boiling on a 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE but car drives okay vibrates a little


water pumps do not boil but engine coolant systems do from lack of water . Water pumps leak and get bad bearings but the heat comes from blocked radiators-blown head gaskets--cracked heads --fans not working and the vibration is from pistons and rings trying to bind up in the cylinders from over heat situation

Overheating coolant boiling out into reserve tank


you have a blown head gasket.. doesn't have to have coolant in the oil for a blown head gasket... if hoses are rock hard when running then you have exhaust leaking into the coolant via a blown head gasket...

I keep geting a low coolant indicator when it first starts in the morningalso it keeps overflowing and boiling our of the overflow tank. This happens even when ythe coolant level is below full.


Either the thermostat is stuck in the closed position...or the engine cooling system cannot pressurize...both will cause an overheat condition.
A blown head gasket can cause overheat condition as well as fluid loss (boil over)

I'd maybe remove the thermostat and either just replace it or not have a thermostat installed just to see if it still boils over. If it boils over with no thermostat installed then you're getting into possible leak in cooling system...i.e. water pump weep hole, hose or radiator leak...or a blown head gasket.

My toyota 4runner is overheating but i have no water leak and yet my radiator is losing water


SOUND LIKE HEAD GASKET LEAK.CHECK ENGINE OIL FOR SIGNS ANTIFREEZE CONTAMINATION..OIL WILL LOOK LIKE MILK SHAKE.IF USING WATER IT EVAPORATES AT 212 DEGREES. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE CAN CLIMB UP TO 220 DEGREES.IF OIL IN CRANK CASE LOOKS GOOD.ADD 50/50 WATER AND ANTIFREEZE. ANTIFREEZE WILL RAISE BOILING POINT TO KEEP COOLANT FROM EVAPORATING.SEE IF YOU LOSING WATER ITS BOILING AWAY LIKE WATER IN A TEA KETTLE.

How do i tell if i have blown head gasket


The signs for a blown head gasket are:
1 - The car oveheats above 195F.
2 - The cooling system is loosing coolant, low coolant level.
3 - The coolant start boiling and owerfloing from the coolant bootle.
4 - Mixture of coolant in oil, or oil in coolant.
5 - White smoke from the tail pipe.
The diagnoses to reveal a blown gasket are.
1 - Radiator compression test. Can be done at any car reapair shop for $30.
2 - Static cylinder compression test. Can reveal at which cylinder is the blown gasket (pression low, or zero). This is very important at V6 or V8 engines.

Sounds like a blown gasket. The pressure at combustion chamber varies from 75 in idle up to 150 in higher RPM. If the cylinder head gasket is blown, then gases are blown into the cooling system, increasing the pressure, the radiator cap pressure relief valve is open and coolant is discharged in the coolant bottle. In such cases it is common for the coolant bottle to boil. You can observe gases discharging in the bottle, mixed with coolant, from the cooling system. These are symptoms of a blown cylinder head gasket.
To find it out you have to perform cylinder compression test on your car. Start with a normal ("static") compression test. If you will find low or zero pressure in one cylinder this might be a bad ring, valve or cylinder head gasket

Overheating when driving no mixing of the coolant and oil


The three most likely thing's cause overheating are faulty thermostat,electric fan or clogged radiator. Only at has been overheat so much it boils dry that it will cause engine trouble. Most common problem's are blown cylinder head gasket or a cracked cylinder head.
mixing coolant and water depends on where the gasket has blown or head is cracked. You will first need to check if it actually is overheating. The reason is. If the head is cracked or gasket blown then you can get a false boiling which is compresion from the cylinders blows through the crack in the head or gasket causing the coolant to blow out of the radiator cap.Fill the radiator to the top leave the cap off then start the engine.If the water blows out then you will need to remove the cylinder head check the gasket is ok. If its damaged replace if not get the head checked for crack's. If no water blow's when you start it check the thermostat is working properly. To check the thermostat put it a in a saucepan cover it with water bring the water to the boil. It should open before the water boil's but near boiling-point. If its ok then start the engine again leave it running until it boils and check the fan is running. If that's ok then its radiator problem. Their is no way to check if the radiator is ok you will need to get a new one. One last point. If the cylinder head or gasket are faulty it was caused by overheating so by just fixing the cylinder head problem is not a cure it will overheat again. Check the three things I mentioned at the begining and told you how to check them. Hope this help's. Cheer's
