It sounds like you have a faulty TPS throttle position sensor, I would recommend that you replace it. The installation is easy, and the part can be purchased at just about any auto parts store.

On my 2005 F/expdn, if I am on red light stop, when rpm goes under 50 x 1000 my car shutdown. If I keep it above 50 by pressing accelrator is OK, pl suggest

1st your car should not idle below 110 rpm even in gear

idle problems on these are caused by both broken or open vac ports or a dirty throttle body the A/F ratio cant get a correct reading

Having problems with an 1997 ford expedition will not start cold

have your idle air control valve checked. go by your local auto parts store and get them to pull the trouble codes, some places will do this for free.

1997 Ford Expedition, 4.6L: The shift lever is difficult to pull out of Park and when shifting gears like from Reverse to another gear there is alot of slack. I have noticed that shifting to 1st is near...

There are bushings on the rods for the shift linkage. They are plastic and get brittle and fall apart. Block the wheels and get under it and have someone move the shifter and see where it is binding up or what bushings are missing. Make sure emergency brake is on also.

Everytime I stop and try to just idle my expedition has started to try to die or die. I have a 1997 Ford Expedition. The check engine light is also on.

On top on the engine, all the way to the back, and down a little, there some vacuum connection, one has an elbow that always leak's, start engine and feel back there, 9 out of ten time's that's the problem, that will also set an engine light on for lean.

I have 1997 ford expedition hose is leaking air at the other end of the pcv valve not the valve cover end . how do i fix this? i have a 5.4 engine > looks almost impossible to get to for repair.

I recently changed out all the plugs and coil packs on my 1997 expedition. After replacing them, the truck idles fine and revs fine but once it goes into gear it seems to way a million pounds. When I try to accelerate the rpms go up by the speed will only top out at about 20mph and the transmission will not seem to shift into the next gear easily, kinda jumps into gear. I found a hole in my pcv valve hose, I plan to replace it tommorrow. Could this cause my engine to bog down during acceleration and make it feel as if my transmission is going out?
