Open Question

The engine doesnt start and it is giving me that P2291 ICP TOO LOW engine cranking and also P2617 CKP signal circuit open

Checking the circuit to the crankshaft sensor there is no voltage. Could this an open circuit.


Two wires at the sensor connector ?

CKP JD1 CHECK THE CKP SENSOR SIGNAL SENT TO THE PCM
    Note: The battery should be fully charged and the starting system should be functioning properly.
  • Disable the inertia switch.
  • Key ON, engine OFF.
  • Access the PCM and monitor the RPM PID.
  • Crank the engine.
Is the RPM greater than 150 RPM? Yes No The CKP, PCM, and harness are working properly.

The concern is elsewhere. RETURN to Section 3 , Symptom Charts for further direction. GO to JD2 . JD6 CHECK FOR SHORT BETWEEN CKP(+) AND CKP(-) IN THE HARNESS
  • Key in OFF position.
  • PCM connector disconnected.
  • Measure the resistance between:

    ( + ) CKP Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - ) CKP Sensor Connector, Harness Side CKP+ CKP-
Is the resistance greater than 10K ohms? Yes No GO to JD7 . REPAIR the short circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. JD7 CHECK THE CKP CIRCUIT(S) FOR AN OPEN IN THE HARNESS
  • Measure the resistance between:

    ( + ) CKP Sensor Connector, Harness Side ( - ) PCM Connector, Harness Side CKP- CKP- CKP+ CKP+ Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? Yes No GO to JD8 . REPAIR the open circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

I have these codes reading now po700 po335 and po727 any idea what to check first on 03 kia sorento. my car lost power then shut off, then wouldn't start


p0335 is a crank shaft sensor error. This sensor is what tells the ECM when to send spark to plugs. That is why it wont start.

If we replaces the feul pump on my 2002 prizm and it still won't run what else can it be?


Did you check the EFI relay an circuit opening relay ? these relays power the fuel pump !
The circuit opening relay provides ignition positive voltage to the fuel pump. The circuit opening relay is controlled by the powertrain control module (PCM) and receives ignition positive voltage from the EFI relay. The PCM monitors the crank signal circuit, terminal C3-11, for voltage when the ignition switch is in the START (engine cranking) position. When the crank signal circuit indicates the engine is cranking the PCM energizes the circuit opening relay. The PCM also energizes the circuit opening relay whenever reference pulses from the crankcase position (CKP) sensor circuit are detected. If the crank signal circuit does NOT indicate the engine is cranking the PCM will energize the circuit opening relay based only upon reference pulses.

Engine stalls while driving


That would be a symptom of a crankshaft postion sensor going bad . Shorting out when heated up . But unfortunately thier are other sensors that can cause the same problem . Plus the ICM - ignition control module could cause that problem as well . OH yea , almost forgot you vehicle has two crankshaft position sensors . You best bet , take it to a qualified repair shop that has the diagnostic tools to trouble shoot the problem .
The electronic ignition (EI) system consists of the following components and wiring circuits:
• The ignition control (IC) module
• The ignition coils
• The powertrain control module (PCM)
• The 24X crankshaft position (CKP) sensor
• The 7X CKP sensor
• The camshaft position (CMP) sensor
The EI wiring circuits listed here use the following service common names. Between the IC module and the PCM:
• Low resolution engine speed signal
• IC timing control
• IC timing signal
• Low reference
Between the 7X CKP sensor and the IC module:
• CKP sensor (1) signal
• Low reference
Between the 24X CKP sensor and the PCM:
• Medium resolution engine speed signal
• 12-volt reference
• Low reference
Between the CMP and the PCM:
• CMP sensor signal
• Low reference
• 12-volt reference
The IC module also receives power and chassis ground through the following circuits:
• Ignition (1) voltage
• Ground

When it stalls check for spark , pull spark plug wires off the same coil an crank the engine . Is thier spark jumping from one coil tower to the other ? Make sure it's a lack of spark problem .

Without knowing make or model Po725 is a Chrysler code for Engine Speed Sensor Circuit
Possible Causes- - Open or shorted CKP sensor circuit condition
- Poor CKP sensor electrical connection
- Check communication error between the ECM and TCM

2008 Ford F250 6.4 turbo diesel, have 3 DTC codes


P0087- low pressure fuel system. Fuel pressur valve stock open, Fuel volume control valve stuck close, Leaking fuel injector,P0088- fuel pressure contorl valve stuck close, Fuel rail pressure sensor P2291-all @ at the above, means to say poor fuel quality

SYMPTOM
P0320 - NO CRANK REFERENCE SIGNAL AT PCM

WHEN MONITORED
With the ignition ON.

SET CONDITION
No signal from the Crankshaft Position Sensor is present during engine cranking, and at least 3 Camshaft Position Sensor signals have occurred.

POSSIBLE CAUSES
SYMPTOM
P0700 - EATX CONTROLLER DTC PRESENT

WHEN MONITORED
Ignition key ON, Continuously.

SET CONDITION
Any DTC sets in the Transmission Control Module.
