This may be related to the antitheft system The system is known for turning off the starter or injectors when it fails. Is there a light on the dash that says SECURITY? This is a common problem worth looking into. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/

Car starts then runs for about 4 seconds and shuts off right away. it will stay running if i use the command start info; 2001 grand prix. aftermarket astro commandstart lost the starter and need to get it...

There is usually a over ride switch "valet" switch that should have been installed with your aftermarket starter. Your going to have to locate it and turn the valet switch on for you to get the car started with your keys. Call the installer and they should be able to tell you where it is or as mentioned, look for the switch. It's going to be under the dash somewhere around the drivers area and will not look like a factory switch built for the car. Good luck and keep me posted.

Vacuum canister location

We found that one of the vacuum hoses had been cut, so we bought a connector for $3.00 and coupled them together, and it worked like a charm.
