Hello Ron, If your car does not crank when you turn the key, it sounds as if you have problems with the ignition switch . Or the actuating rod is disconnected.
check for lose wire connection off wires on solinoid and battery solinoid is connected on stater motor normally on the side off engine at the back off engine
Your starter is probalby bad. If you can take it off, it can be tested at autozone. It not that expensive new but Im sure you can find a used one at a junk yard for cheap.
It sounds like you need a new starter. Your armature has few dead spots on it and every time you turn the key it moves just a little until you hit a good spot and then it spins and the car starts
check to make sure yu have 12v at the battery, once you do turn the ignition to start, if nothing, check the fuse and relays that control ignition, if all is good then the click sound is coming from the starter, have the solenoid replace.
your starter is bad.... the two contacts inside the solinoid are worn out only way to fix is replace the unit as a whole bet ya you get click click click then my start.. bet my life on this one been fixin toyotas for 20+ years
