Question about 1999 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

My battery was dead in my 1999 camery this morning. I took the battery out and took it to the auto parts store to get it tested. They told me I needed a new battery so I bought it and brought it home and installed it. When I opened the car door the alarm went off and I could not get it to stop. The alarm sounded about 30 seconds and then stopped. This happens everytime I open the door. We have tried everything. Please help.

If you have a keyless remote, use it to lock and unlock your doors-if not, lock your door with the door lock, close the door, and unlock the door with the key. This should reset the alarm.

Most likely, your problem is your altenator and/or your battery. If possible take your car to the closest auto parts store and they should be able to test it for free.
ie: Autozone, Advance Auto, or Pep boys..

I replaced the battery and the car has ran fine. I went to start it and it was completely dead no clicking noise or anything. It was dead

You need to check the voltage at the battery, it should be 12.5 (doesn't sound like it will be based on your symptoms). Make certain your connections are tight (if in fact it is) then remove the battery and take it somewhere that will charge it fully then load test it-most retail auto parts stores will do this for nothing. If the battery tests OK, reinstall it (tight, clean connections) and start the car, drive it directly to the same store and have the alternator checked. You probably have a dying or dead alternator.

Battery not charging message. Took battery to have tested was told battery good. I charge battery every night and starts next morning last about 10-15 mins driving. I am not getting service 4wheel drive...

Most likely you have a bad alternator. The alternator maintains the the charging system. you have the option to remove the alternator and take it to the parts store and have it tested too!.

You can hear the starter kick out but doesn't start. Took starter and battery to auto part store and tested fine. What else could cause this? Starter relay maybe?

1999 bmw 323i battery dead. Can i buy a typical battery from an auto parts store or is there something specific about bmw batteries?

as long as the battery you are purchasing is of the correct dimensions to allow it to be fitted correctly ie secured properly and is of a sufficient aprer hour rating to suit your car then go ahead fit it (most auto parts stores will keep you right.)

1999 porsche boxter S has stood for a month and now is totally dead what do I do

have the battery tested at any auto parts store. Car batteries a like any other type will go dead if not used for sometime. If a load test upon your battery is 11.5 volts or under its junk status

Battery dead every morning

Something is shorting out (drawing power but not returning it to the battery)
Make sure you don't have any accessories plugged in and running or anything else running or on when you go to bed at night as this would draw down the power!
I'm assuming you have to jump start it every mourning.
Is that correct?
If so the new battery and alternator will be strained and go again soon!
Go to an auto parts store like Advanced Auto Parts and have your battery and alternator tested (they do this for free) and may be able to verify that you have a power draw somewhere!
A jury rig fix would be to put a battery disconnect (available at any auto parts store and pretty easy to install) at the terminal to the battery and disconnecting every night but that won't fix the power draw.
What was the original problem that led you to change the battery and alternator?

Will not start

The clicking noise is usually the sign of a dead battery. No gauges or noise could mean a REALLY dead battery. Check battery connections to make sure they are clean and tight. Have u tried to jump start it? U can take the battery to a parts store where most will check it's condition for free. So check this 1st and let me know what u find. If that's not it, we can continue.
