My 2001 Ford Windstar shakes at about 50km/hr and gets worse the higher the speed. What would the problem be?

Could be a multiple of things..... first off, look at the front tires, how are they wearing? if the outside edges are getting lower than the rest of the tire, your allignment is off on at least one wheel..probably both. if the tires are worn severely enough, replace them and get a front wheel allignment. next possible cause could be an un-ballanced tire (or 2, or 3, or 4). you could have the tire ballance checked at most tire shops for a small fee. the next possible cause is worn suspension components, most likely shocks/struts. these are all good starting points. there are some other causes that might have the same effect like the front brake rotors are warped and hitting the calipers, the caliper slider pins are siezed causing the brake to drag and thus warping the rotor. could also be a bad wheel bearing or hub.

First thought would be tire balance.

a good thing to check would be your inner and outer tie rod ends. if they are going bad they will cause a lot of shaking in the car and will also cause the front end to be out of a lined which will make your tires wear faster and uneven

front end issues ..out of round tires , out of balance, drive shafts going bad, put up on a lift where the wheels dangle in mid air(like a tire shop) and check under the front end for anything loose or broken..

Sounds like your fan belt is glazed or loose. At higher speeds the belt slips over waterpump and doesn't drive pump fast enough to circulate coolant. That would be first thing I would check...
Other possibilities: waterpump, blocked heater core, fan clutch.

You still need to replace the plugs and wires regardless of the visual appearance. If it persists then a compression test and fuel injector swap is needed. If it persists then more expensive parts and tests are needed to see if it s internal engine issue or lean running issue or clogged EGR port.
