Question about 2000 Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

I have a 2000 chrysler sebring convertible and the a/c doesn't blow cold air. I know you can buy the freon to put in your car to see if that works but I have no idea where to put it. I need your help. I'm a female and I wanted to see if it is something I can do myself and as you can see I don't know much about cars.

They sell the freon a Wal-Mart its 134a and comes in a can with a gauge and the nozzle to fill the unit. it is color coded (yellow, green and red) it is simple as it will only hook to the fill line, follow you lines from the a/c clutch and you will see a black cap remove it and snap on the nozzle, with the a/c running the gauge will read something, if it is red then it is something other then freon. Hope this helps Tim

On my my 2003 chysler sebring the ac blows hot air put a whole can of freon in it and it still blows hot air do i need more freon

Have you checked the refrigerant pressure with gauges? If not, do that first. If there is sufficient pressure but you are still getting hot air, your diverter door for your air handler has stopped moving, probably due to an vacuum leak under your dashboard.

Low freon will cause the compressor to short cycle, when the compressor runs the pressure in the low line is pulled down and the low pressure switch turns it off. Not running the pressure builds up and turns it back on. In the old days there was no low pressure switch, with no freon to carry the oil the compressor was destroyed.

01 Sebring convertible, AC was low on refrigerant, and would stop blowing cold air and start blowing warm air. I added refrigerant, and it worked perfectly for about 20 days. Now it blows cold, then it...

First of all if your system was low on refrigerant there is a leak. You can recharge and exspect the air to work, how long it will last depends on the size of the leak.Somtimes the refrigerant can have a leak prevenative but this is for very small leaks. You need to have dye put in to system and use black light to find leak.they make kits at your local auto parts store that you can buy and do this your self.If you say it worked well for about 20 days, that is a fairly large leak. The reason why the compressor is acting so erractic is because the freon has oil in it and lubracates the bearings in compressor. When the system goes low the compressor will turn on and off to protect itself.Eventually it will stop running completly.Idont think you have an electrical problem,Ithink you have a big leak.Try what I said and good luck....Brian

Cooling fans working? If you notice the air getting warm mostly while stopped, probaby cooling fans not turning on. if the fans are working properly, may be low on freon and need a recharge.

I would suggest to check the evaporator, normally found underneath the glove compartment. Check out the coils and the fan. While you are at it you can do some cleaning and see if it helps.
