Can be one of four things, exhaust lobe on camshaft is worn off, or lifter, exhaust can be stopped up such as catalytic converter also, if the engine is running to lean of fuel it can also cause backfire check fuel filters

Check for a loose timing chain

That is assuming, you didn't put the
problem in there, working on the ignition

I have a 2008 Chevy Impala lt it was cutting out every now and again then check engine light came on with the error code p0303 hubby changed all plugs and wires and now when you crank the car it is running...

I doubt the problem is a head gasket.
It sounds like a wiring problem or something affecting the injectors and/or ignition. A very lean fuel mixture could cause the running rough and backfiring problems. So could an ignition problem where the plugs are firing on the wrong cylinders.
The V6 engine does use plug wires, and its possible some of the plug wires are on the wrong plugs.
A leaking intake gasket could also cause the symptoms.

Why 96 impala backfire when i try to start it

The most likely cause of that problem would be the ignition distributor assembly. Inspect it and replace with new parts if you see any wear or carbon deposits. They are usually pretty inexpensive. Check the engine timing. If that all sounds difficult you could try just loosening the distributor and making minor adjustments in the direction that seems to help.

Is it carburated? Rebuild it. Backfire is fuel leaving engine without burning popping in exhaust system. Bad valves?
