How to fix power brake booster on a 2003 Ford Expedition

It isn't that bad of a job if you are able to get under the dash to remove the actuator rod from the brake pedal and unbolt the 4 bolts that hold the booster to the firewall. Other than that, you just have to unhook the vacuum line from the booster under the hood and remove the two bolts that hold the master cylinder to the booster. You do not have to open up the brake system, so there is no need to worry about having to bleed the brakes.

How do u change the brake booster on a 99 Monte carlo

Hi Michelle, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

This is an easy task with the correct tools.

First, pump the brakes 20 times with the key off. Next, remove the 2 nuts that hold the master cylinder in place. Next, pull the master cylinder back and out of the brake booster. Next, go inside the vehicle and on the brake pedal arm you see the brake booster rod attached to the brake pedal arm by a retainer clip. Next, remove the clip and slide the rod away from the pedal arm. Next, around the brake booster rod at the firewall you'll see 4 nuts you'll need to remove those 4 nuts then push the booster backward out of the firewall. Next, go back under the hood and pull the booster past the master cylinder. NOTE: You should have enough room to force the booster past the master cylinder. Replace the new booster and hook up the vacuum hose and your done. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

How to fix brake booster " ?"

You will need to replace the booster. Unbolt the master cylinder from the front of the booster under the hood, then go inside of the cab and under the dash unhook the actuator rod from the brake pedal and remove the 4 nuts that hold the booster to the firewall. Then make sure to unplug the vacuum line from the booster under the hood and pull the master cylinder off of the booster being careful not to kink the brake lines. The booster should come right off.

Power booster seems to leak how to fix

These are not rebuild-able, they must be replaced if they leak.
One that leaks will hiss while the engine is running. The hiss is vacuum leaking, not pressure leaking out.
To possibly check it under the hood, be very suspicious of a leaking vacuum line at or near the booster, not the booster itself. It might be bad, but that is pretty rare.
The last one I changed I thought was defective because it hissed when I applied the brakes, but a new one did the same thing! :-(
If you decide to replace it, you will be unbolting the master cylinder from the unit under the hood, and also unbolting the unit under the dashboard.
Of you are really careful, you might not need to disconnect the master cylinder 's brake lines at all, just gently pull/push it out of the way to change the booster.
Be really careful not to kink the brake lines.
The unit is bolted to the car with usually 2 bolts through the firewall behind the brake pedal.

I have excessive brake travel, and a hard time 98 chevy blazer

Two issues...
The brake booster has a ruptured diaphragm. Replace the booster.
It is located under the hood between the brake master cylinder and the firewall.

Your master cylinder may be leaking fluid internally past the plunger.
Have it examined when you change the booster.
