Question about 1998 Ford Explorer

2 Answers

1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V-6 4WD - A/C problem. A/c does not not cold - gets cold Works only on automatic, and automatic over-rides manual settings. When I press Max A/C I still get the automatic. If i turn the fan down it gets hot again. It blows HOT air on every other setting, including vent. Have been told it was the "actuator". Very expensive repair! Could it be anything else.

This link should get it working again, it is a blend door issue. The blend door is controlled by an actuator, but you can move it by hand to test...

It could be the control module itself. You can pick one up at any junk yard for around $20 bucks. It's not a garuntee that it will fix the problem but it is a possibilty and cheaper than the alternative. Hope this helps.

Can the 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer be lubricated?

I'm guessing by the year that you have pretty high mileage on your SUV. If that is the case then you will probably need to rebuild front end. that should take care of the problem. Good luck.

Rear air on a 2007 Explorer never gets cold, even though the front air is ice cold. The heating part works fine, but the A/C never gets cold.

We had this problem on a 2004 Freestar, and the expansion valve was plugged next to the rear evaporator. The expansion valve allows the freon to flow through the evaporator and cool it. I replaced it and it works good.

1999 explorer stock subwoofer

I would be very proud of that truck as the sub that came with the truck was only a 8". The only one that works is the factory model as it is a 1 1/2 - 2 ohm speaker; replacements are 4ohm. You will have to replace the amp as well if you put in an aftermarket sub. Oh and apparently the amp will have to have "speaker level" inputs as opposed to pre-amp inputs. I have a 1999 Eddie Bauer wih a blown sub and I'm trying to decide what to do as well. The speaker is $400 with tax in Canada! Good luck.
