Recently got same code. It's a catalytic converter problem most likely requiring replacement. Everywhere recommends to not go with a generic as they'll only last a year or so and to go with a Toyota original. Cost of total is $1400 from Toyota, around $500 for generics from independent garages. Good news is that Toyota/Scion has 8 year/80,000 mile warranty of catalytic converter so if damage to cat is not user-caused you'll be covered for free. So hurry and call local Toyota dealership/repair for appointment ...
First you need to figure out WHY it stopped running. Was it no fuel? no ignition spark? A tune will not make a engine quit. Have the comp codes read at an auto store, its free.

The check engine light means that something is going wrong with the engine, electric, or emissions part of your vehicle. it will need to be hooked to a scanner to find out what the trouble codes are. Usually Autozone will scan and give you the codes for free. get them and post them here and i will try to help you with the diagnostics
When you open up the glove box squeeze both sides to take out the glove box, then there should be a whiteish casing with Toyota on it pull it out at both ends then replace filter do reverse intructions to put it back
