Question about 2001 Ford Taurus
I have the pully off and getting ready to remove the balancer, but the bolt won't come off without the crank spinning. Is there a way to hold the crank so I can get the bolt off?
I had this problem and had to block the teeth of the harmonic balancer with a 2-ton hydraulic jack handle (use an assistant to hold) while I torqued on the bolt with a 4-way lug wrench and a length of pipe. Took a minute, but finally we heard the "ping" of the seal breaking and were able to remove that BAB.

A impact wrench is the thing. Probably doesn't fit, they spin it right out. I've put the pulley back on and put chain wrench or strap wrench around the pulley to hold the engine from turning.
