well iam not sure here as to programme the immobilisor the whole vehicle is done at the same time when ever i have had to have them done and the man comes around with a whole lot of expensive gizmos that cost him thousands of euros every year to up with the new cars ,then certain models need the breakdown truck and taken to the dealer as they use fingerprint reading of the authorised operative via a call back system over the internet linked to the factory .

please i am having the same problem. i have replaced my ecu but the car wont still start. how did you get yours working?

  • rino_60 Mar 28, 2011

Yes but it still has issues starting, but what I do is turn the key one turn let it sit 3 seconds then push the gas pedal down just slightly and then turn the key to on wait till all the dings have completed and then turn it on when the RPM gets around the 2 I remove my foot from the pedal and it starts up it has worked for me several times.

have read too many things about Nissan and that the car has a poorly designed fuel system have read that people that have from 04 to 06 all have the same issue Nissan had a recall for the fuel pump a few years back but those people who have had it replace still have the same issue some said their fuel pump was replaced twice and still has a start up issue.
Hope what I do is able to help you out with your car good luck.

What am i missing? no power to starter selenoid.

is the immobilizer off ? any other device that stops power to start or run the engine. modifications alarm upgrades etc these can all stop the power to the starter. even ecu being switched off as ecu has a shunt so it can handle the power drain when engine is being started.

Van will not start, fuse for digital trans range sensor blown, replaced, blew again. checked battery and starter, was OK, now the starter will not spin nor engage. (will engage when I jumper out)

digital trans sensor faulty
now check ecu fuse and starter relay

is the engine check light on

if you jumped battery terminal to battery terminals and did no earth the jumper to the motor of the van
that would blow the big fuses in the engine bay cluster or fry the engines ecu module

Have no power at all but when i move the battery negative cable i will get power but wont start.. i just put a new battery in like 2 weeks ago.

If you get power by moving the battery terminals there is a loose or dirty connection, if the terminals on the cables are made of lead scrape them till they are a silver colour, same for battery posts .As a skin can form on the terminals and battery posts and make a bad connection , then check the other ends of the cables for tightness one cable will connect to the starter, the other to the chassie .

2001 sunfire put new starter in car would not start so put in new battery car finally started after holding key to start then would not turn off unless u disconect battery posts, now when u put posts...

Hi, it sounds like the starter solenoid was not wired properly. You have 2 wires at the starter, right? The bigger wire goes to the big top post on the solenoid, right? The smaller wire is called the start wire and it goes to the smaller terminal labeled "S." Is that how you wired it? You also have to be careful when tightening the nuts on the terminals that the start wire terminal does not touch the other terminals and vice versa. Do you have the starter in the car now? Can you take a picture to send me?

Hi,
Looks like an ECU problem,
You should go to your nearest dealer and check/scan and analyze your computer/ecu, some of the sensors might not be working already and need to be replace.
In the issue of starter, if it clicks and the motor of the starter whines up, it means it is working fine, the problem would be the bendix drive/gear can't reach the flywheel to start the engine.
My suggestion would be to bring that car to your dealer to check the ecu/computer and if the starter assembly is for your car model( sounds like its not for your car).

Hope that solves part of your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!

Won't start. starter won't engage. new battery does not help.

The following assumes that you get a 'click' when trying the starter. You need at test light or meter to troubleshoot--put the test light (meter) on the starter motor terminal, and have someone try the starter. If it turns on the light, the starter motor itself is bad. If no light comes on, then move the test point to the battery cable side of the solenoid and try for start again. If the light came on at first, but went out, check the positive battery cable connection at the battery--it may have corroded the copper wire inside the cable at the terminal or the terminal connection to the battery may need to be cleaned. If the light at the solenoid stayed on, then the starter solenoid is defective--replace it. Hope this helps!

key will not stay programmed for long ,disconnect battery .starter relay can be made to work quite easly same as fuel relay, but try by-passing the ECU to get the dammed thing to spark ????its an impossibility without a wiring diagram for the ECU so you can solder a switching transistor to join the collector and the emmiter .Call the main dealer and hope you dont lay the golden egg ,re-programming a car thats lost it memory from a dead battery sould not cost more than 200€ but i have have headr of cases where its the old golden egg job ,,,,,,new ECU 800+€ can fit a secondhand one only new ----???---¡¡¡ repair cost more the value of the car
