Drivers seat will not adjust and steering wheel will not adjust. The fuses are good.

  • rbharper Aug 03, 2008

The seat is an electrical adjustment and the steering wheel adjustment is also electrical and they share the same fuse.

make sure the fuse is getting power. you can do this by getting a meter with a light on it. touch the silver part on the top of the fuse whaile it is still in the fuse box. than touch you button that would move your seat and see if it lights up. if not than you aren't getting any power to the fuse. from there you will have to take it in to an electrical shop and have them track down why you are not getting power to the fuse.

If adjustment is electric check fuses in fuse box, if it is mechanic you need to take apart steering and seat, in this case is better to go to a garage.

SOURCE: Automatic seat broken, How to manually adjust?

I am sorry but you cannot adjust it, there is no way to over ride the transmission that moves the seat unless you remove the motor, move the seat to where you want it and reinstall motor

SOURCE: drivers side power seat and steering column don't work

i think the seat control unit controls both items. check the connections at this unit to see if they are still securely attached to the unit.

i didn't know your exact model as i could not find the 08 528i and didn't know if yours was LH or RH drive. take a look at the pic and look for box #1 under the seat.

SOURCE: driver seat and steering wont adjust on my 95 740il

here's what you have to do:
#1. make sure the fuse to the seat adjustment is not blown, its usually a 10 or 15amp fuse.
#2. unscrew the cover to the controls on the driver's seat and make sure the harness is not loose or
broken, if the harness fails to attach to the control board correctly the steering wheel and the
seat adjustment will not work, this harness tends to come loose and even brake over time due to
the constant movement when you get in and out of your car.
I hope this solves your problem.

Steering wheel adjustment , the steering whell is 90degrees off but the car does not pull eather direction. car was stolen no damage just steering whell truned

jack front of car up then turn steering wheel full lock to full lock and count the number of turns from either side then divide by 2 so you have the straight ahead position then remove the steering wheel and replace in the straight ahead position ,iam saying this because the vehicle may have been re tracked and only one track rod end adjusted so you have say 2 turns to the left and 2 and half to the right if you follow me .or remove the steering wheel then just hold it on and slowly drive forewards and lift wheel and refit to the correct position

Our steering wheel and driver seat is not working. Can't find information on how to fix it.

Check fuse first. if not the problem take the cover off of the driver side seat adjustment controls and insure that the relay is seated securely. Just fixed my 2001 740il about 5 minutes ago.

Driver power seat adjustment and steering tilt not

It would appear that the relay is misfunctioning. Try swapping one from nearby and when your car won't start but your seats operate then you'll know what to do. THanks, Dana

1998 528i Driver seat adjustment & steering wheel adjustment inop. Fuses 13 & 21 are good. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I had that problem. I have a 1997 528i, the plug on the side of the drivers seat under the plastic panel came unplugged. I had to just simply plug it back in, steering wheel adjusted and seat moved too. Maybe this is your problem too.
