Question about 2005 Ford Focus

1 Answer

Have a 2005 2 litre TDCI Mondeo. When driving the car is constantly "pulling back". If you accelerate sharply black smoke is emitted from the exhaust. Would be grateful for any advice.

This problem could be caused by a number of things as its common rail which is electronicaly controlled but first thing i would do is to make a gasket from a coca cola can to block off the EGR valve you make the gasket the same as the old one but do not cut the middle out so it effectivly blocks it off ,if this doesnt work then its a bosch injection specialist garage to have a look as this is complicated software and i have yet to see a general garage with the right software to read anything ,its made that way iam afraid to stop general garages

Why is there no pulse at injectors on a 05 mondeo tdci

No pulse? Is the engine running? How are you measureing pulse? If the engine is running there is a pulse, if it's not running, there won't be a pulse. If TDCI is correct this is a turbodiesel
Compression Ignition.

Fuel contamination

You likely got a load of water contaminated fuel, diesel fuel absorbs water like a sponge. Drain the fuel or add a water absorbing diesel fuel additive available from many parts stores.

sounds about right for what i think it is ,now remove the EGR valve and make a gasket from a coca cola can and do not cut the middle out ,so it blocks it off completely then try it as i am almost positive this is your problem .

MONDEO TDCI 2.0L CUTS OUT UNDER ACCELERATION AND THE DEISEL PLUG LIGHT FLASHES.ENGINE RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY.NEW CLUTCH AND FLYWHEEL SENSOR FITTED RECENTLY

There has to be a loose connection somewhere. Being pulled apart under hard acceleration. Do you have any OBDII codes stored? This will lead you to your fault. Hope this helps...

2.0 TDCi Ford Mondeo '03 plenty revs but lost most power when driving black smoke with accelerator pedal to floor

Lost power and Black smoke:

You have a Failed MAP Sensor and / or the vacuum line is off or cracked.

The ECU thinks the engine is under full load and is getting all the fuel it can to the engine.

Hope this tip helps guide you to solve this problem.
