When my 93 mazda b2600 is cold it will try to start for a second or two with the engine bouncing around. It will do this four or five times. If I leave it in the start position for a minute then try to start it, it starts right up. It will run a little rough for a few little bit then it smooths out and is fine. This doesn't happen when it is warm or warm outside. Engine rebuilt, new injectors and full tune up. New fuel pump and filter. any ideas

Could be a problem with the fuel hose connections. When cold they expand allowing the system to **** air. Warm they contract making a better seal. Try clamping the connections to the filter and on the tank.

93 b2600.. cool days needs ether to initailly start, then fine. Sun beatingg on hood & hot; starts fine. go figure

Coolant temp sensor acts as engine choke for fuel injected cars, so if it fails you will have this issue. Some early fuel injected cars also had a "cold start injector".

93 toyota pickup 4x4 it will stay running after I turn it on to start it up, it starts up then after a few seconds it kills

if I'm reading this right...
... the engine starts and dies within a few seconds.
... you jumpered the fuel pump test connector and it will keep running.
... you smell fuel after trying to re-start when it dies.

Disconnect the plug to the cold start injector. Even if you have an issue with the engine running then dying after a few seconds after doing this, if you don't smell fuel after disconnecting the cold start injector and try to restart it, the cold start time injector time switch may be failing.

Buy a can of starting fluid and have someone start the engine then spray short bursts of the fluid around all the intake fittings. If spraying the fluid in any particular area keeps the engine running, I'd start looking for leaks around that area.

It does sound like an AFM or COR issue considering it dies after a few seconds, but the fuel smell when trying to restart the engine may be a separate issue that needs corrected / isolated first.it will keep running.

yes a head gasket failure cancause this. spary oil, wd-40 into those 3 cyc;lindersand see if cmpression increases. if it does you need rings. if it does not you need a head gasket.

Hi, I have a 91 Mazda B2600 5 speed fuel injected truck. Recently it started dying and I thought it was the fuel pump. I replaced the fuel pump, and it ran great for around 10 minutes and then died...

I had a similar problem and did the same thing. I late found out it was due to a blown capacitor in the ECM (computer module). I had the ECM repaired and it has have working trouble free for a year now.
