My ford focus 1.8 diesel as fault codes p1576,p1342.p1343,p1344. what part do i need to replace.

It's more than likely a wiring fault or an ECU fault - assuming this is one of the ECU controlled alternators. Check in this order 1 wiring 2 alternator 3 battery 4 ECM hope this helps

sorry but the local ford garage are right its got to do it when the mechanic has it ,i would suspect the alternator ,but who knows with these weird faults like this .Best advice i can give here is leave well alone till till it packs up completly

SOURCE: 2008 Ford F250 6.4 turbo diesel, have 3 DTC codes

Code1 p0088 = Fuel rail/system pressure too high
code 2 p0087= Fuel rail/system pressure too low
code 3 p2291 = Injector control pressure, engine cranking-pressure too low. I would suggest clearing the codes first and then rechecking to see which (if any) codes reappear. Good Luck.

DTC P1343 - Misfire Cylinder 1 With Fuel Cut-off
I would start looking at the air intake for leaks first. Make sure the intake boot isn't torn anywhere, inspect it throroughly around all grooves for cracks. Also check the crankcase for excessive vacuum by removing the oil cap with it running, listen for idle speed change, and excessive vacuum entering with the cap off.

This would indicate the crankcase vent valve has failed under the intake.

It can be replaced without removing the intake, it's kind of a pain. You will need the valve and the attaching hoses since they will need to be broken to remove the valve, and they get brittle with age.


The valve is located under the intake, slightly forward of the throttle body. I wouldn't try do do it unless you're really mechanically inclined, its kind of tough.

You might want to start with spark plugs. I'm not sure if that year has coil on plug ignition, but if it doesn't, spark plug wires are probably in order as well. Some of the O2 sensor faults could be caused by the poor ignition your mis-fires are causing. Sensor 1 is closest to the engine, sensor 2 is further away, on the other side of the Catalytic converter.

you dont say what diesel engine it is --is it a common rail diesel or a standard pump diesel ?need to know---think you have had your leg lifted mate if there is no codes why carnt they read actual data remember its not the standard of the equipment its the knowledge needed to use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
