Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by mooning noise, but I'm thinking you have a bad wheel bearing. Does it quiet down when making turns in a certain direction? If yes, it is a front wheel bearing. See if you can listen to tell if it's the right or left. If you would like instructions for changing a wheel bearing or have any other questions, please let me know, and thanks for using FixYa.

When i start driving my 2006 Saturn Vue there is a ticking sound that I hear that sounds like its coming from the left front wheel. There is no sound when i start the car, only when it starts moving. The...

It sounds like an issue with your steering or suspension. Because it gets louder and faster as you drive, it is almost certainly something that is either loose, or worn out. I have seen tires that have a bump or a blister on them to create a bumping noise, like you're driving over several speed bumps at once. I would take it to a trusted place and just have them do a front end inspection. Some places will even do this for free, hoping they'll find a problem and make their money back. I believe that Midas was doing free front end inspections. If not, lots of places will do it when you get your oil changed, etc. You may want to look under it yourself and just see if you can push or pull on anything and feel any slack or looseness.

Front wheel noise when driving. Louder the faster you go.

Raise the vehicle until one wheel is off the ground. Grab wheel by sides and wiggle - if it moves, you may have a bad wheel bearing. Also try rolling the wheel and listen closely - you should hear and feel a crunching or grinding noise which would confirm the wheel bearing. Lower vehicle and check the other side. Many newer vehicles have the bearing as part of the hub, requiring the replacement of the hub assembly to fix the bad bearing. Most others require a press to change out the bearing. It may be worthwhile to take it to a shop right away for a hands on diagnostic. Be careful driving it - the wheel bearing could potentially cause the wheel assembly to fall of the vehicle, injuring or killing yourself or others!!!

Old car noise or trouble?

i have seen a lot of cars make noise when you turn the wheel all the way one way or the other and usually it is either the upper or lower ball joint. it will be louder when its really cold. i would jack the car up and see if there is any play in the ball joints.

Rumbling in front tires

You probably have a bad wheel bearing or bad tire on left front. when making right turn left front wheel wil spin faster than right making noise louder.
