Why deos my car everytime i start it especially in the morning have a bkue/white/grey smoke come out of it

Don't worry about the smoke when your car starts it will mostly happen in cold mornings but as car heats up it should be gone its just cause the car has to heat up to a certain tempeture. Hope it helps.

02 dodge strauts, smoke coming from tail pipe

what kind of smoke by that I mean what colour is it and when does is happen under hard acceleration, at idle, when first started, under light acceleration, idling a long time? blue smoke is burning oil, white smoke is burning coolant sometimes accompanied with a sweet smell, black smoke its running rich. those are the basics.

What does white smoke mean?

With a petrol engine, water/coolant is being burnt due to blown head gasket.

Exhaust smoke upon cold start up

you don`t say what color the smoke is so this is a basic indicator with different colored smoke.if it is white smoke like you would see from any car started up on a cold day then this is normal for cars as the exhaust is hotter than the ambient air temperature.if it is a thick heavy looking white smoke and has a sweet odour then this can indicate a coolant leak into the combustion chamber after sitting overnight such as a bad head gasket,if it is a blue smoke then this indicates oil leaking into the cylinders past the valve seal or valve guides on a cylinder that is on the intake stroke when the motor was shut off,if it was rings it would show only under acceleration,if it is black smoke this indicates an overly rich fuel mixture.

My kia puts out blue white smoke when i start it in the morning and sometimes during the day when i start it. Its a Kia Soerento GLS 2.5 and it seems to be using oil through this problem.

burning oil
probably valve guides worn a little .when stopped a slight amount of oil gets on pistons and burns off when engine started hence the smoke

Have excessive blue or white smoke from exhaust when truck is started after sitting for a few hours 2005 f250 6.0 ehgine

Hi,
is it a diesel or gas engine?
Usually excessive blue smoke on start up indicates oil is getting into the combustion chamber. It could be piston rings or valve seals.
Quick check, drive it within operating range and speed. Either use the rear view mirror or get someone to drive it and you follow in another vehicle. Accelerate, then take your foot of the accelerator. Blue smoke under acceleration indicates piston rings / pistons. Blue smoke on deceleration or the "over-run" indicates worn valve guides / seals.

White smoke can indicate coolant in the combustion chambers / leaking cyl head gskt, or incorrect fueling. If brake fluid gets into the combustion chamber it will generate a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. However, that would entail a leaking brake master cyl and a leaking brake booster.

Good luck.

1996 jeep cherokee miss fires and white smoke from exhaust. replaced head gasket and still runs the same.. runs fine when cold.

White smoke is usually the sign of a blown headgasket. I would have the coolant system pressure tested before any serious damage is done.

Keep in mind this codes:
- Black is excessive fuel
- Blue is oil
- White is coolant

Then, if you see white smoke from the tailpipe, you have coolant escaping into the intake system.

My smoke comes through my pipe

Well, it's the type of smoke that really matters. Does it smoke black? Blue? White? White for the first ~2 miles/5 minutes of warm up is not a bad thing, just blowing out condensation. White smoke that never stops is a sign your head is warped/head gasket is busted. Blue smoke is a sign that you're burning oil bad. Black smoke indicates an overly rich fuel condition.

My ford 6 liter blows blue smoke under acceleration and while stopped at a stop light the compression was checked and all cylinders are good any ideas ???

Engine Smoking:
.
Black Engine running rich Possible Failure
-Map sensor, fuel injector or fuel pressure regulator.
Blue -Replace Faulty Transmission modulator valve
White Possible Failure. -Head gasket.
Hope this tip helps.

Black smoke coming out of exhaust, only on immediate acceleration. Leaves black spots on ground under exhaust pipe.

Your engine is running "too rich" meaning more gas is going into the chamber than is supposed to. If it is a late model, to need to see your mechanic. FYI , blue smoke is oil, black too much gas, white, antifreeze, (really bad).
