Question about 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Sounds like your fuel pump is going out, I replaced mine at 120,000 miles. The fuel level sending unit is built on the fuel pump, so it will solve your level indication problem as well. The cheapest place I found a fuel pump was, believe it or not, on Amazon.com. I searched Rockauto.com for the part no., did a search, and found it there at the lowest price.
Changing the fuel pump is not really that hard - would take you and a couple of buddies about 2-3 hours. Email me if you need step by step instructions.
