Blue smoke generally equals some type of oil burning. White smoke is generally associated with water. Since your car is a '94, it's probable that the car has issues with the piston rings. They get worn out over that many years and the engine suffers what is known as "blow by", meaning the oil is getting into the firing chamber. It's kind of expected from cars that old. The fact that it doesn't do it constantly is a good thing though. You can use engine treatments from your local parts store to help remedy the problem if you are on a budget. Hope this helps.

The water pump won'tcause blue smoke. If it's coming out of the tail pipe, and then going away as the engine heats up, that's because your catalytic converter is doing away with the smoke, once it kicks in. That won't last forever, as your cat will plug up from this. Oull the spark plugs, and see if you have evidence of oil burning, not oil fouling. Fram / autolite gives nice diagnostic pictures in their master cataloge. Most parts stores will have a copy. As far as the water pump, need engine size.

My 94 acura legend ls is over heating and blowing out alot of smoke at times cant drive it more then 5 miles sometime not at all the fans are working fine the coolent is bled no air bubbles and the...

Probably a blown head gasket. If excessive steam is coming out of tail pipe and coolant is disappearing that would be my guess. Also engine compression can leak by head gasket into cooling system causing water to blow out of radiator. Make sure though when you purged air out of block you thought about it having to fill heater core. It could be trapped air in system. I used to take temp sensor out and fill block until coolant came out of it.

My smoke comes through my pipe

Well, it's the type of smoke that really matters. Does it smoke black? Blue? White? White for the first ~2 miles/5 minutes of warm up is not a bad thing, just blowing out condensation. White smoke that never stops is a sign your head is warped/head gasket is busted. Blue smoke is a sign that you're burning oil bad. Black smoke indicates an overly rich fuel condition.

My 92 Acura Legend was cranking fine, until my boyfriend put spark plugs in it. Now my Acura will not crank. When changing the plugs he noticed 2 of the plugs had oil on it. Please help me find out...

first check he put the right plugs back in your car,,,,then check the plug leads are all on the right plugs,,if there not the engine will try to kick back when trying to start and if it did start the engine would jump about and missfire also you would not have any power from it,,,if you find any thing wrong under the hood
,go get a big stick and beet him with it till he gets it right!!!
then throw him out in the street,,and buy a puppy insted!!!!
as for the oily plugs,,,so what??? its an old car,, if its not pumping out blue smoke and burning engine oil dont worry about it,,,its likely to run on for years,,,longer than he may?

Symptoms a 1991 acura legend water pump is failing?

The water pump on your vehicle is ran by the timing belt. The timing belt will have to be removed to change the water pump. You have a engine that is classified as interference witch means that it will bend the valves if the timing belt goes out.I would recomend that while you are doing the water pump you should change the timing belt to be on the safe side.

Where is the water pump located on a 1995 acura legend?

it is under the timing belt cover. it is more economical to replace the timing belt at the same time along with the tensioners and idlers for the timing belt. happy holidays

My 1995 Acura Legend smokes very bad when at an idle. If I replace all the gaskets and the rings, will this most likely fix the problem? I have someone who will do this for me. I do not have the money to...

you think all gaskets and rings will cover everything? 1st thing you must do is determine the source of the smoke. If it only smokes at idle, but never under accel or at cruise, I would HIGHLY doubt its rings. Rings leak worst under pressure...when accelerating or under high load. If it smokes at idle and even more under long decels (like coasting down a long hill) it may very well be valve seals. If it ONLY smokes at idle and never any other time, it may be as simple as plugged oil returns or a PCV problem? Dont start changing things. DIAGNOSE 1st, then change when you have determined a cause.
